In October we will be at DLR for 4 days staying at GCH. I love being lost in the magic of Disney but hoping my diet will survive the trip. I am planning on bringing fresh fruit and some veggies to keep in the room but I am wondering if anyone has dining recommendations for the parks and hotels? Tell me how your diet survived DLR.

At Bengal BBQ in DL I like to get a Banyan Beef Skewer (spicey) and a veggie skewer. I feel like I had something better to eat when I go there. The veggie skewer has no sauce with it but comes with a lemon slice. If you all wanted was the veggie skewer maybe you could ask for some sauce on the side.

There do seem to be some better choices. Chicken Breasts and salads and whatnot. Lots of fruit to be had but it is expensive, well, like all the food I guess. A favorite way to save the calories for me, is to just skip the bun altogether.

Oh, Whitewater Snacks in the GCH has a good chicken sand. with a good piece of white chicken. Bigger than Taste Pilots. DH and I split one.

I guess mine doesn't really. lol We try to eat about the same as we do at home. We bring snacks and water with us and often pack in a PB sandwich for lunch. As others have mentioned, there are some good salads and non fried sandwiches to be had. I've tried Bengal BBQ and while I felt like I was eating something better for me, I wasn't overly impressed with the sauces I had. Of course, I'm not really a sauce kinda gal anyway. lol

I was going to suggest the chicken caesar salad at Farmers Market in DCA, but then I realized that the caesar dressing probably doesn't make it very healthy anymore. It's very good though! :goodvibes

There are also fruit vendors around they sell fresh fruit and large pickles a little pricey but healthy. I would also suggest getting kids meals or splitting an adult meal with someone else. Have Fun on your trip.

You can also find sliced apples with caramel dip or pnut butter and trail mix at some of the stands. There are plenty of salads available, and each place has an Italian style dressing if you don't want a mayo based dressing. There are lots of options, and remember you'll be walking a lot so you'll be OK with a few more calories. :)

Great point pixiewings! On our last trip I was still doing Weight Watchers trying to lose my weight from baby #2. I was really concerned that I was going to screw up my diet. But - I ate extra calories everyday and still LOST weight when we were there from all of the walking that we did!

Pacific Wharf cafe has some great salads and fresh sandwiches- If you search on this board there is at least one thread that lists all of the salads at DLR, what is in/on them, etc. Rainforest Cafe & ESPN Zone have great salads and you can just get the dressing on the side and not use it. Riverbelle Terrace has healthy sandwiches. Pizza Port and Tomorrowland Terrace have salads. Also, the Lucky Fortune cookery just opened and it has rice and veggie & chicken teriyaki bowls. Oh - and the mexcian restaurants (Rancho del Zocalo in DL and Cucina Cucamonga in DCA have taco salads). Whitewater Snacks also has salads. Lots of places to get something healthy - really!! I even ate one treat or dessert each day. And, had 2 treats on a couple of days and it went great for me!!

I'm dieting my fat off now so that I can eat whatever I want while in Disneyland. By the end of the trip I'll be 10lbs heavier but my heart will be lighter. I figure it's a good trade-off. That's just me (aka food LOVER)...

I was there last week and found many healthy options. Here are some pictures I posted in the food thread:

Might not be the healthiest thing but it was really delicious! If you're worried about too much dressing, then you can ask them to put it on the side instead of mixing it in ;)

I have to laugh at the California Wrap. DH got one last time and we called it a fruit burrito. Grapes and chicken and mandarine oranges all inside a green tortilla. He didn't like it and not only that it wasn't very big for the cost.

Thank you so much for the pictures! Seeing makes be believe that I will not starve or cheat on this trip!

We love Rancho del Zachollo. They have a grilled half chicken that you can switch the beans and rice for veggies. It is more than enough to share and really yummy
