I went for my cholesterol test yesterday (160) but my doctor said I have to becareful of the LDL levels, eating healther & getting motivated to exercise. Are there any places or suggestions by you seasoned Disneyland visitors of how I can eat healthier when my husband & I are down there? It kind of bums me out because I can't eat the same way as much. Suggestions? Thank you!

I am on Weight Watchers and going to DL at the end of the month so I have been researching and getting ready! There are several fruit/veggie stand throughout the resort. A lot of places also have turkey or chicken breast sandwiches and instead of fries, you can get apple slices. Here are some of the places and things I plan on eating while there:

French Market (NOS) - chicken breast sandwich and side salad
Rancho del Zocalo (Frontierland) - kids chicken taco meal
Taste Pitlot's Grill (DCA) - splitting a cheeseburger with my niece
Wine Country Trattoria (DCA) - chicken bruchetta salad
Village Haus (Fantasyland) - turkey sandwich & apple slices
Tommorowland Terrace - spicy chicken sandwich

I hope this helps a little!

My husband has high cholesterol too. I always find it hard to eat healthy on vacation, too many yummies! But DL and places outside of it has a lot of choices. Lots of salads, sandwiches with lean meats ect...

My husband didn't stick to a good diet on our trip last week. He pretty much ate what he wanted and then started over when we got home. I tried to get him to eat right though, but couldn't blame him for not wanting to in a place with so many gooooooood things!

When we were there in March DD12 was sick, and all of us were stressed and feeling kind of icky as well, so we didn't feel like eating a lot of junk. We ended up going to Whitewater Snacks in GCH a LOT, because they had a really nice selection of salads and fresh cut-up fruit and vegetables. Everything was very fresh and clean. There was juice, milk, yogurt, bagels... all that kind of stuff. It's a cafeteria-style place, but they have a grill as well and do some hot entrees. When DD12 had no appetite I just put a container of fruit from WWS near her... and soon she was nibbling the watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries and grapes all down.

i started getting really worried about mine im so young and still worry alot. so I stoped eatting mcds and fast food like every day (the money crunch helped to) I dont eat saleds i cant stand the taste and im just bad all the way around. but i did notice at dl last year it seemed there was so much healthy food. I ate some fruit and drunk water more then anything I still had frys when i had a chance and stuff but i just made sure not to have them at every place

I'm not grate, like i should be but i do thik dl would be the easiest place to make the healthy choices. In stead of saleds and soups i kept asking for fruit cups or side of fruit.

Another place to eat: Bengal Bar-b-q, in Adventureland. They have skewers of chicken, beef and veggies.

I am determined to come home with very few pounds gained! (but I also don't want to feel deprived! - what a fine line!)

All those suggestions sound really helpful & is much appreciated :thumbsup2
Since its probably going to be hotter than Hades in July, I probably won't be thinking too much of fried foods and other goodies I occasionally like to indulge. Thank you again everyone!

The brocolli soup in Pacific Wharf is good. The pasta salad to go type thing in River Belle Terrace is good. And I'm not a huge salad lover, but I really liked the salad at Red Rocket's Pizza Port (but get the chicken-less salad, the chicken was not good). As for a treat - dole whips are low fat and cholesterol free according to their website!! :woohoo:

there are a few fruit stands here and there but it is mostly fast food, although if you go a bit outside DL there are some great restaurants that you can try.

I love the Chinese Chicken salad at Pizza Port! I'm a life time Weight Watchers member. I rarely gain any weight when I go to Disneyland because of all the walking you do!

The healthiest meal we had on our last trip in November was at Yamabuki at the PPH. Definitely worth the walk over, just cut thru the GCH.

The kids meal would have been fine for me.
It was teriyaki chicken, edamame, orange slices and rice.
My kids gobbled it up..even they were sick of the standard kids menu options.
They haven't asked for mac n' cheese since...and that was 8 months ago!

PCH Grill at Paradise Pier Hotel offers the "Skinny Melt." It's a beef or turkey patty with grilled zucchini and onions. My mom had the turkey patty on our last trip and said it tasted really good. Also, The Coffee House at the Disneyland Hotel offers fresh fruit. :)
