DH and I are into extreme healthy lifestyle now but we are off to WDW in september. We really don't want to completely wreak all our hard work and from past WDW trips there are some healthy choices at some restaurants and others have "no" healthy choices at all.
Does anyone have a list of healthier choice restaurants that I may not have gone to?

It might help if you can tell us what you consider "extreme healthy". Ultra-low-fat vegetarian? No red meat? High mono-unsaturated fats?

The Wave in the CR is "healthier". They use mostly organic and locally grown foods and the portion sizes are more reasonable. DH and I had a really nice meal there on our last trip.

Oh the Wave, thanks. I didn't have that one down!

I am looking for lean meats, fish, no carbs (no pasta, bread), very low fat type of dishes.

I am hoping that 50% of our meals will be like that and the other 50% will have to have some not so good for you food but if we can get 50% healthy we are doing good. I know WDW is really hard to get healthy choices. I mean we will still be going to our fave breakfast, Crystal Palace and have some of their yummy muffins and bread but we just can't do that everyday. And we will be at Narcoossee's for DH to have the surf and turf (red meat) but if we can also be good to our bodies while we are there it will be a fabulous trip ;)

I noticed a lot of healthy choices especially for snacks while i was there. You can buy fruit at a lot of places and I also saaw a lot of light yogurt options. The hotel's food court had a lot of fresh fruit, salad, & yogurts. If you do TS you will find lots of options you can tweak to make healthy, like salads but ask them to hold off on certain toppings etc but at CS you are much more limited. A lot of kids meals were avail with fruit as a side so if you want a smaller meal (smaller burger with fruit and milk instead of fries soda and a big burger)

The Dole WHip is surprisingly not that bad for you if you want a treat.

I would also recommend checking out allears to see the menus, although they were not entirely accurate. The WISH board would also be a good place to post this question.

Healthy options are avail, you just have to seek them out. :goodvibes

Stick to foods as close to their natural form.
Fruits
veggies
hard boiled eggs
fish
chicken

You could place an order with gardengrocer.com for heathly items.

It's easy at WDW to eat food higher in calories than normal but healthier options are avaliable.

There are some healthier selections in the Land at EPCOT at the Sunshine Seasons food court. There is also fruit available in carts throughout the parks. I would recommend trying your best to stick with this and packed snacks for lunch and breakfast - and for dinners, select the healty choice. It's hard, but not impossible.

Thanks everyone. Yes I know its not impossible but there are several restaurants we have not done so wanted some insights into those. Yes the snacks we are good, fruit and yogurt is great there. Its just the TS b/c alot have hidden fat and calories, its hard to know what things were cooked in and with. We enjoy sitting down for meals, we usually do a TS for breakfast and one for dinner and just grab a snack inbetween so again its the TS meals I am trying to get healthy choices on.
If anyone else has other tips, please feel free to share!

Do you know what restaurants you are thinking of going to?
It might be good to try Teppan Edo in Japan. They cook everything in front of you! So you know exactly what you are eating. And, it's fun and yummy!

I had a great turkey sandwich on multi-grain bread at the Plaza in the MK and DH had a nice strawberry salad there. (You may need them to modify the ingredients slightly, as I think it was supposed to have bacon on it.) The Plaza also had strawberry sorbet as a dessert option.

We also had a healthy meal at Beaches and Cream. DH had a great grilled chicken sandwich on multi-grain bun and I had a turkey sandwich again. They also offered fruit instead of fries for a side dish. DH had strawberry frozen yogurt, DS had orange sherbet, and I had fat free, sugar free vanilla ice cream (with full fat hot fudge on it!:)) for dessert.

DH also fell in love with the strawberry frozen fruit bars that are sold at the ice cream carts in all the parks--only 50 calories each!

We also had a pretty healthy meal at the Cape May clam bake buffet for dinner--steamed clams, terriaki glazed salmon, corn on the cob, new potatoes, salad. The desserts here were very small. If you can stop at one or two you wouldn't do too much damage.

I was able to get the Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT to serve me a grilled chicken ceasar salad without the dressing. Most places are very nice.

Have a great trip!

P.S. Depending on your hotel, I would also suggest using the exercise room, if possible. We woke up EARLY so we could use ours at the Beach Club. I would go first and he'd stay with the kids. Then I'd come back and start getting ready for the day so he could go. Even 1/2 hr. is better than nothing, right?
