Health warnings on Soarin'??

I have been on Soarin' just a few times but for some reason do not remember what the health warnings are for this ride. I assume fear of heights and motion sensitivity are a couple but are there more warnings??

There is less motion on Soarin' than on the BUS RIDE to the park.

(And I'm not being "funny" about that.)

That's why I said the "oranges" thing... nothing happens (other than in some people's HEADS who have a fear of heights) that can ACTUALLY cause any health concerns.

You sit in a "desk chair" type seat, get slowly lifted off the ground, and watch a movie while you dangle your feet.

Like I said, I have been on this attraction and do realize it is fairly mild. My main concern is that my father will most likely ride this on the family's next trip. He had quad. bypass surgery about 3 yrs. ago and I just worry a bit since there is so much hype about "pre-existing" conditions right now and I just want to make sure there is not a heart warning on this particular ride. He definitely does not do the coasters but I want to make sure he'll be o.k. on Soarin'. That's all, just a worrying daughter, I suppose.

I have a fear of heights, a fear of motion and a fear of the dark. I am however a fun person

I rode Soarin' twice today and have many times before. My DH has no fears, but has this inner ear problem. He was hesitant to go on but it has since become his favorite ride.

As with all rides, take precautions. I don't think it should be a problem. My oldest DS had open heart surgery and we let him ride. It's smooth, safe and perfect for people who hate motion rides like me.

The only warning I remember was for motion sickness. DH had back surgery 6 weeks ago and there was no resriction for anything related to this.

Soarin', in reality, has:

Less G force interaction than an office elevator.

Less motion than riding a bicycle.

Fewer "jogs to the body" than walking.

Less panning action than turning your head to ask someone a question seated next to you.

But, you know, the IDEA that this attraction MIGHT be some kind of scary experience is enough to put some folks into a panic.
(I've seen it myself.)

No accounting for some folks imagination "running roughshod" over their logic.

And I think that's the main reason we ride in the first place.

There were a couple of the standard warnings about motion sickness and fear of heights. I am not sure if the pregnant women warning was given. This is a very mild ride and does not need these warnings.

Last year when we first rode Soarin' here we were with another couple. The friend's DH is older, in his 70's, and had heart surgery probably 2 - 3 years previously.
I was not going to talk him into going on as he was having obvious anxiety over riding Soarin' the closer we got in the que area.
DH got him on the ride and he was extremely anxious about the ride.
Soarin' ended up being this man's favorite ride. He LOVED it and wanted to ride it again.
So any stress it puts on a person is purely psychological from their point of view.

First I will say that I am very protective of my 83 year old husband. He has had bypass surgery, aorta valve replacement, and wears a pace maker. After I rode first with our daughter, I would have loved for him to ride too. He wouldn't but I felt it would have been quite safe for him. It was a most pleasant experience. I rode twice and our daughter rode 7 times.

I do remember that there are tons of motioin sickness warnings. Since I can get myself carsick, and am scared to death of heights, I wasn't going to go on. I ended up going and loved it! It is very gentle.

Thank you all for your input. I really want him to experience this ride, as I think it is just beautifully done and he said he will have no problem with it. It is me, however, who worries and would feel just terrible if something happens. Overly cautious, I suppose.

My mother, on the other hand, has a fear of heights and we rode it for the first time together last December. I had read a bit about it here but I guess did not pay that much attention of how high off the ground we really were. We were naive riders. The closer we got in line the more anxious she got. I kept telling her she did not have to ride but she insisted. Of course, we got front row center and soon after "lift off" she had a death grip on my hand. I even said "wow, did you see the hidden mickey"--I thought I was going to get a punch in the nose. When the ride ended and we were safely back on the ground, she said to me, "I kept figuring, how high off the ground could we really be?" YIKES She almost flipped when I told her what I read. I will never live that one down. She is not sure she wants to ride again on the next trip. One minute she says yes and the next she gets a funny look on her face. Maybe it is her that I should be worried about and not my dad. Maybe I'll just go alone. Hhmmm, that's a thought.
