I just wanted to post this thread because it was a question I had about the program that I figured out. So I'm sharing with you!

In order to stay on your parents' insurance, most of the time you are required to stay a full-time student. (Ask your insurance company for the rules) My school would have given me free elective credit for the internship, but they were units that I did not need. I did not want to end up paying $2000 just to stay on my parents' insurance!

So we figured out that some major insurance plans (anthem blue cross is an example) offer short term insurance for as little as $88 a month. So instead of paying $2000 I will only have to pay about $500 since I will only be in Fl for 5 months. Then once I return to school I can be covered by my parents' insurance once again!

Of course you should talk to your insurance company because each one has different rules. Your insurance provider may also have info about short-term insurance that can work for you.

I just wanted to share this info with everyone because I know I wasn't sure what to do about insurance while I was there.
