still needing health insurance (adult) in Florida.

I'm getting quotes (v basic, high deductible) of $300 a month (for self only). That's the lowest I'm going to find right?

Good Luck! Lived here for almost 24 yrs and most of the only good (honest) plans I've had have been with carriers outside of the state including Blue Cross/Blue Shield. When we changed over to Blue Cross/Blue Shield of FL from another state, it was like switching to a completely different carrier.

As far as rates go, you have to take into account what is the deductible and what does it go towards? Is it towards doctor visits or toward surgical procedures?? Are there co-pays and how much? Does it include well visits? Are the docs you like in-network or out-of-network? There are so many criteria to take into consideration when shopping. Many of the counties in FL charge some of the highest prices in the nation. We found out our county has the highest average doc charges in the state/hence higher insurance premiums.

The most important thing I can tell you is to do your homework and check out the insurance company. Looking for cheapest rate can be trouble if they are not a reliable company of if the doctor(s) you really want to see don't take the plan. Make sure you take that into consideration while shopping around.

Thanks! how do you carry from out of state?

never even heard of this!
