Ok, I know we talk PF (plantar fasciitis / heal pain) to death on the boards. But, I recently took a job further away from the home. I now spend oodles of my time stuck in dreaded I-4 traffic. Since then my left heal, has become increasingly WORSE. I don't know, but I'm curious if the manual transmission may be inflaming the tendon.

I see a new foot doctor next week, but I wanted to see if anyone else may have ran into this?

I drive stick for the last 20 years and a ton of it in traffic.

Never had heel pain. Not something you should get. You dont shift with anything but the top of your foot. The heel has nothing really to do with the clutch.

I mean you use it with the gas, but there is no tension in that pedal like your clutch, so you can't get heel pain using that.

Really not sure how that can happen.. Must be something else outside of using stick

Never had heel pain from a manual shift, but really bad ankle pain. So bad I had to go back to an automatic.

Heal Pain, (I think) is the layman's term for Planter Fasciitis, so it's not actually my heal that hurts. My apologies for the confusion. :thumbsup2

Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a painful inflammatory process of the plantar fascia, the connective tissue on the sole of the foot. It is often caused by overuse of the plantar fascia or arch tendon of the foot. It is a very common condition and can be difficult to treat if not looked after properly. Longstanding cases of plantar fasciitis often demonstrate more degenerative changes than inflammatory changes, in which case they are termed plantar fasciosis. The suffix "osis" implies a pathology of chronic degeneration without inflammation. Since tendons and ligaments do not contain blood vessels, they do not actually become inflamed. Instead, injury to the tendon is usually the result of an accumulation over time of microscopic tears at the cellular level.

I don't really know how to describe it, it only hurts for those few seconds when I make the stretch, like something just isn't right.

hmm ok I could see how the tendon would be bothered by the clutch..

sorry I focused on the heel part and not the rest.

hope it works out..

I love driving stick.. Hate automatic..

PF sucks as I sit here rolling a golf ball under my foot while typing.;) My pain is in MY BIG TOE and not my heel. :mic:

1) See an podiatrist.
2) Get custom made orthotics.
3) Get some physical therapy.

I am making good progress but it includes the dreaded daily exercise to build up your core strength and getting rid of the scar tissue in your foot. Good news is I am getting stronger, losing inches, and gaining muscle tone.

I am waiting on my orthotics.

Good luck at the docs! Foot pain STINKS!!!
