There is a horrible "stomach/flu bug" going around WDW. I haven't seen so much puke in a while!! Every park and bus stop we were at had the evidence and of course our family got hit as well.

What I have learned. Bring some type of disinfectant along to clean with! I used all our Purell hand disinfectant cleaning the toilet between kids puking trying to prevent further disease transmission. I would have sold my soul for a bottle of Lysol, lol!!

Good luck to you and bring the pepto, tylenol and Imodium!!

It's going around up here too, my DD had it last week.

We all had something similar up here in MA Thanksgiving Week. No fun! Thanks for the heads up, I will be stocking up on Purell and such for the trip!

One of the major cruise lines just returned with over 300 people sick. We are not going until January and hopefully it will be over with by then.... but now I'm a bit nervous.

Did you see evidence of any additional cleaning by the Disney staff to try to overcome this? When I was in college they shut the college down for a week due to this, I"m sure Disney wouldn't do something so drastic, but you'd hope they would put some type of something in place!

Is there a number to call to try to find out if they are making any strides in trying to eliminate this problem? With the number of people that go it could become and pandemic!

Not happy to hear this at all! We leave for WDW in 6 days and I've been waiting too long for this trip to get sick.

I really hope we skip this this year! I have had it the last few years and it is pure misery!

I didn't notice any extra cleaning. They do use the same saniwipes that we use in our hospital. However, puke spots were just wipes up with towels after a hundred people walk through and dragged it everywhere!

I just got back last week and I was the Purell queen. Everytime I thought about it, I put more on. We rode back on the bus to SSR with a little boy who had just been sick-and we made sure we Purell'd ourselves REALLY well after that. Luckily everyone seems to be ok. After 6 months on this board and reading some of the gross things people have seen at the parks-I'm very careful about not touching my face and making sure I clean my hands often!

Well I just got back Saturday and I am now coming down with a nice head cold. No one else in my family is showing any signs of sickness though. Hopefully they won't.

This is just horrible. My DD3 just had this a few weeks ago. She kept throwing up every 20 minutes like clockwork for 6 hours straight. I was very nervous cause I didn't know what was wrong with her. We're leaving in 3 days and we both have sore throat/cough now. I'd be so upset if we got sick or are still sick at WDW.

DD2 got very sick at MVMCP on Thursday night, and First Aid wanted us to take her on the boat to WL! I told the CM at the boat that she had been vomiting for over an hour and luckily he got someone to drive us to the resort in a van. I can't imagine putting a vomiting child on the boat and infecting the rest of the people on board!

We are leaving in 12 days and I am so nervous. We had a horrible week last week with 4 of the 5 of us on antibiotics now for sore throat, cough, congestion. 2 of my kids even threw up and had fever with this. We are just now getting to feeling better and I am praying we will not pick up this throw up thing before we leave or while we are down there. Not fun to be on vacation- Disney no less- and be throwing up everywhere. My DD8 keeps her hands in her mouth all the time (nail biter and very oral) so this is not good news for our family. I even told the kids we are not eating out anywhere until we leave for fear that someone in a restaraunt will be sick and at work fixing our food. We are taking extra vitamins and antibiotics too and my kids are saying that I am freaking them out. I hate the thought of seeing throw up all over the parks and busses. Guess my purse size hand sanitizer will not be enough. Better go to Sams and get a mega size.

I didn't notice any more sick people than usual. No need to worry.

We leave in 6 days too! :cool1: We'll start a daily routine of airborne in a few days, to help protect against viruses. It's not a cure or anything, but I do think it helps. That and lots of handwashing and purell to ward off bacteria. What else can you do? :confused3 Whatever happens happens!

We were Purell and hand washing maniacs last week and everyone stayed healthy. We only saw evidence of it in a few places where the CMs didn't manage to clean it up immediately. Saturday in MK was the worst, I think just because there were so many people.

Just got back yesterday and my niece spent Sat night into Sun vomiting and she developed diarrhea and a fever of 102.4. Earlier in the week my other niece spent Mon night vomiting and had diarrhea. It took mousekeeping at the Poly 3 phone calls and almost an hour to come to change the sheets and the room smelled like vomit later that night. Every time we go to Disney someone gets the bug (I swear it's like to norovirus on the cruise ships). I do have to say we went to first aid at MGM on Sun and the nurses were wonderful. Unfortunately hand sanitizer doesn't kill spores...

We just got back yesterday from 11 days at WDW and Vero Beach, and all 4 of us had an intestinal illness of sorts beginning a few days after we arrived. Didn't last long (48 hours or so,) but of course, it started with the youngest, worked it's way through our 11-year-old, and finished with dad and mom toward the end of our trip. Seemed like every day at least one of us was not up to par.

I have no doubt that Disney's standards of cleanliness are superior to other attractions / resorts, but it did sort of bother me that I had to put my finger on a scanner that had been touched by thousands of other people before me, not to mention grabbing onto bars and railings also possibly contaminated. But....it's Disney World - not a sterile bubble! Just pack LOTS of Purell and wash your kid's hands as often as possible. Even if you don't have kids, I've always found it helpful to pack a few baby wipes (with a little bit of rubbing alcohol,) in a plastic bag. You never know when you might need a quick hand wash....and you're not near a restroom! I've even used them to quickly "sanitize" a table, seat, stroller tray, etc.

It's probably not the same strain and too late but is it too late to get a flu shot just in case? We leave Friday.
Runs off to find some Purell and pack it right now!
