Headphones made by/for NBA player, expensive

My son has hinted about a special type of headphone for his birthday. They are made for/by some NBA player and cost in the $150-400 neighborhood. His grandma always likes to make a splash with her gift and I like to see him get something fun. Problem is this- if I ask too many questions, he'll know he's getting them. As it is, he's only hinted or barely mentioned because he knows we don't often splurge like this. So-who knows what I'm talking about so I can help his grandma get THE gift? Thanks!!!

I assume he is talking about the higher end noise canceling headphones that you see many athletes wearing when getting off of the buses. They are also popular with many people who fly a lot.

The Bose ones are probably the ones most have because they have the name recognition and, lets face it, most athletes are about showing these kinds of things off.

This search has some options from really pricey ($350) to more reasonable ($25). I don't use any so can't recommend them but going to Amazon and reading the reviews might help you out some.

My husband is in the audio business and he thinks you're probably looking for "Beats by Dr. Dre". These are ones that are worn by many of the athletes. He says they are worth every penny you spend on them. They cost in the $250+ range.

They are produced by a company called Monster Cable. They are carried in many of the big box electronic stores (Best Buy, PC Richard, Electronics Expo).

There are a few different styles (in ear, over the ear). Over the ear are a bit more expensive.

I've seen some of those types of headphones. The quality is so-so. I also happened to find some Lady GaGa "designed' headphones that go in that $200-300 price range.

He's probably talking about Beats by LeBron James. They haven't been released yet - but it's the same company that makes Beats by Dr. Dre. They also have DiddyBeats by Diddy, and HeartBeats by Lady Gaga. They don't have an ETA for release of the LeBron James ones yet, though.

Not the LeBron beats, he's a Cavs fan and is struggling to like LeBron right now. It was some other player not nationally well known unless one is a real basketball appreciator. The suggestion to contact a friend might work. I asked his best friend what he wanted and he was pretty funny about it. He said, "I don't know.' then fake sneezed the words 'cell phone.' DS wants a Droid but we have T-Mobile and Droid is only compatible with Verizon who's phone do not currently accept sim cards so no Droid for him- maybe Christmas when the Verizon folks have promised me they are converting.

The other things he's asked for: a pull up bar installed over his bedroom door, a pilates ball and a Dwayne Wade, Miami Heat practice t-shirt in XL which is backordered. Nothing with pizzazz 'cept the phone and we can't do that yet and keep our T-Mobile account. Gotta take care of the Grandma gift, ya know?

Gotta love D-Wade Sounds like my kid except she's a girlshe loves all things basketball! We've seen the team headphones but that is all and they were only $50. Think that will be a Christmas gift this year.
