Trying to plan ahead for our September trip and thinking our iPad may be of the most entertainment on our two hour flight. However my dd is small for her age (almost four) and has never used headphones. Any suggested brands?

Oh wow I did an Amazon search before posting and those were the exact ones I was about to order - but there were so many other options I thought I would ask first. Thanks!!

My kids have been traveling since they were 3 months old and I haven't found a great desgned-for-kid solution.

First, are you confident she'll keep the headphones on his head? It took until age 4 or so before my first-born stopped fiddling with them.

Second, are you worried about hearing loss? I bought some kid-safe ones that would not let the volume get too loud for small ears. Problem is, on an airplane there is so much background noise that you have to turn the volume up. And the two models I bought would not let the volume get loud enough for the kid to hear what was playing!

So we ended up using this earbuds with hook model for a few trips. They would work for a while, then fall out and she'd get annoyed.

Finally, on one trip I let her try out my noise-cancelling Bose QuietComfort 15 headphones that I bought for myself for train and plane trips. I assumed they wouldn't fit....I assumed wrong. They fit her head very well and she watched an entire movie without and problem . So of course...the $10 designed-for-kids models didn't work...but the $300 designed for adults did...:rotfl:

We have the kidz gear ones from amazon and my kid loves them. We did practice watching iPad with headphones on prior to flying though. I'm not sure she could hear much but she didn't seem to mind. I think she just likes having them on. This was from a little over 2 to now a year later. We take them with us a lot and the loves them.

That being said We had about a two hour or maybe 2.5 hour flight and she did watch some iPad, but she also liked coloring with her special triangle crayons and I was happy I got them and a couple new coloring and sticker books.

I got some at Target that have Sully from Monsters Inc on them. They had other characters (Disney and non disney), too. I figured if my son thought they were cool he'd wear them.

My son has sensory issues so I wasn't sure he'd use them at all, but he loves his Sully ones, even now at 6.

Toys r us and other stores have very cute Disney character headphones for $20. We got the Jake ones. However, they are terrible. They reduce the volume so low you can barely hear, they are also poor made and feel cheap. Last week we bought a set of ihome ones from kohls and they are great! Much nicer and come in a few chapter designs.

I bought my kids a pair that controlled the volume for young kids and they could not hear on the plane.

We have Kidz Gear headphones. Our daughter has used them on airplanes before and they've worked fine, even with the volume control...at least she didn't complain. She first wore them when she was 3, now 4.5. I kind of agree with the "cool" factor of the character ones--our daughter's are bright pink, which is pretty snazzy though, too!
