Heading back in 2017....annual passport question

Hello all! So excited to FINALLY be planning our next Disney family vacay for 2017, we haven't been since 2014. Question about annual passports (yes we are those people that spend our whole spring break at Disney!!) The passports will be blocked our first day there, can you purchase a regular 1 day admission for that day and then put that $ to the price of an annual passport that same day? I thought I had read that once upon a time, but could be way off in left field here!

You can actually buy and use your APs the first day of your trip. If you buy an AP on a blockout day, you will allowed to use it to enter the parks. Otherwise, you can buy a one day ticket and upgrade it before the end of your first day. But the first way is easier, I think.

yes. if you purchase/upgrade to an annual pass on a blackout date they will just give you a voucher to present at the turnstiles along with your pass. that was our experience when we bought our passes last december during a blackout period.
