Illinois & Wisconsin top the list for # of cases. They aren't even the largest states. I wasn't aware Illinois had a large Mexican population. I usually think CA, AZ, NM, & TX. Who knew?![]()
I work in a school kitchen in WI ..we had a safety or health audit or something the other day, anyways, our boss was told by the auditor that the reason why WI is so high on the list is not necessarily because we have tons of cases of swine flu going around, but because of budgets or lack of nearby testing facilities (labs),etc...several states will not test you unless you absolutely push it. In WI , we can apparently run the tests in Madison and Milwaukee and anyone who wants to be tested will be tested. So it seems we show more cases because more people are actually getting tested.
Other states have to send their test to the CDC or other labs to get ran, whereas we can test ours in state ( in two of our largest cities) which makes the turn around for getting the results much faster.
Does this make sense?? I tried to explain it how she explained it to us last week.
