Was thinking of booking HDDR online tonight. It appears my card will be charged? How is this handled? Will I be charged then refunded? And what is the cancellation policy. Disney's website isn't real clear. I know DDp covers category 2 or 3 seating only.

You have to give them a credit card to hold in the event that you don't show up for your reservation, but your credit card should not be charged if you tell them that you are using your DDP to purchase. We have done this our past 3 trips and they have never charged our credit card. They will deduct the credits off your DDP when you pick up the tickets at the conceirge desk at your resort.
The only way that you will be charged is if you do not show up. They will charge your card then.
I believe that for HDDR you have to cancel the reservations at least 48 hours in advance to not be charged. (I'm kinda iffy on this one)

When online under the place to type in the restaurant name there is a link to book with your dining plan. if you use that option and log in through there is should avoid the credit card issue, if not ring Disney and there will be no issue they will just link it with your reservation with no credit card

they will just link it with your reservation with no credit card

You won't be charged anything at the time of booking if you link it to your dining plan. However, You still have to give them your credit card info just in case you fail to cancel the reservation within the allowable time and then don't show up. You are then charged the full amount on your card.
