HDDR party size seating question

My family of 5 already has an ADR in cat 2 for HDDR. I recently found out that my friend and her family of 5 will also be at WDW and thought all of us doing HDDR together would be a hoot.:lmao:

Of course I haven't been able to get cat 2 or 3 (we're all on DDP) for that night for either an additional party of 5 or for a big party of 10. There is only availability for cat 1, and we're not paying OOP when we have the DDP.

I just checked different party sizes and were able to find cat 3 for both a party of 3 and a party of 2.

Here's the question: if I book the parties of 2 and 3, is there any chance that they will be seated together, and would there be any chance those parties would be seated with our original party of 5?

Thanks for the input.:goodvibes

They always say with a large party that there is a chance that your party may not be seated together but usually they do.

I would take the reservation, and see if you can "link" them together. Or if you can, when you get on property see if the concierge at your hotel can call ahead and ask for the parties to be seated together.

I know once you get there the tables are already set up so this is not something you can ask for when you get there.

Woo hoo!!! :jumping1:For a five minute window today a cat 2 table for 5 showed up for the day I needed at HDDR.:cheer2::dance3::yay::woohoo: Now we can all eat together and have a ball.:grouphug:party:

Uh, I hate to bring this up, but I'm not so sure you'll be able to ask for your tables to be together. They preassign the tables at HDDR. You should definitely request that your ADRs be linked but even with that I don't know if it'll make a difference. You booked at very different times and they assign the tables based on when you book. With the link on the ADRs the table assigner might put you together but if they don't then you can't just ask when you arrive to be put together because the tables are like seats at a show and are already assigned to other guests. It's even possible that you'll be on the ground floor and they'll be upstairs. I wish you luck and really do hope they seat you together, but please be prepared for the possibility that you will be seated far apart.

I was also going to bring this up.

The tables at HDDR are preassigned based off of when the reservation was made. It would not be an easy thing for them to change things around to accommodate requests for parties to sit together... if they can do it at all.

OP, I don't want you to get your hopes up. There is a very real chance you will be seated no where near your friends.

Thanks. I'll try to call Disney Dining and have the confirmations linked and ask if we can be seated close to one another. At least we can travel to the show together and hopefully be on the same level.

Here is the seating chart:

Tables are assigned based on when the call is made and the size of the table. They put tables together for larger parties, and will put a party of 2 in a 4 top if they called earlier and asked for a specific category.

Your chances of sitting next to each other are not very favorable, but hopefully you will be on the same floor. If they booked when ADR's just opened and you found one now close to the time of the show, it is very possible you will be downstairs and they will be upstairs.

Either way it's a fun show. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for all the great info, especially the seating chart.:thumbsup2 I did call Disney Dining and they said dining reservations can't be linked? :confused3 but that when we pick up the tickets at the resort, we can request to be seated close to one another.

I'll keep good thoughts for you that you can be close to each other. I am surprising my family and taking them for Christmas dinner. We love the show!
