HDDR - drive, bus or take the boat

CS to FW...just wondering the best way to get to HDDR on non-park arrival day. Should we drive (we'll have a rental car) or park at TTC and boat to FW. I have never been to HDDR - just wondering how many can fit on the bus to the FW parking lot back to our car or on the boat. How do they accomodate the crowds coming out all once?

We did CS to Hoop de Doo last summer. The beer and sangria are included at HDD, and I didn't want to be driving. We took the bus to MK and hopped the boat to FW. After HDD, there are buses waiting to take you back to your resort area. It is a short walk to the bus area. Our bus was taking people to CS, AKL, and I think All-Stars. It was a fairly efficient way of transporting everyone back to their resort.

We also took a bus to MK and then took the boat. We had the early show, so took the boat back to MK and went to park, as it was still open. Then just took bus back to resort.

If you wish to drive, you should park at Fort Wilderness. From there, take any Settlement bus. They run about every 10 minutes. To get back, take any Outpost bus. They run on the :10 minute mark. Each bus can hold 70-80 guests. There are three buses every 10 minutes.

There are also resort buses after the HDDR show, so you don't need to drive if you don't want to. (To get TO the HDDR, take the bus to the MK and then the boat)

How much time will we need if we take the bus to MK and the boat to FW for the 5:00 show? How often to the resort busses, and the boats run?

Disney recommends leaving your resort (whether it be driving or taking Disney Transport) 90 minutes prior to showtime. This will allow you more than plenty of time to get to Fort Wilderness and check-in at Pioneer Hall 30 minutes prior to show time.

It took us 30 minutes from BW to HDD. But the planets and stars must have been in perfect alignment! The bus arrived the same time as we did at the stop, and we walked right on to the boat. We were the last boarders, and it left immediatly.
