We are on the dining plan we had to book Category 3 because 2 was sold out. Is category 3 that bad? We picked the 7:15 show and they have category 1 available at 9:30 but we feel that is too late for our kids. What has been your experience with category 3?

I like the Cat 3 seats. The poles can be a pain, but otherwise, I'd rather sit there than Cat 2 and that's the truth.

I sat in cat 3 before and while I like cat 2 better, I still had a ball. If it was a case of sitting in cat 3 or not going, I'd sit in cat 3 every time.:thumbsup2

We love the Cat 3 seats! I also would rather sit there than the Cat 2. My kids are pretty shy so they prefer to be up top looking down on everything. They always end up laughing, clapping and twirling their napkins..lol So much fun! LOVE the HDDR! :thumbsup2

I definitely agree! We booked with the dining plan for Category 3. The show was not sold out so they moved us to Category 2. We ended up on the main floor but in the last table in the corner in the back. Wished I was in the balcony so my kids could see better.

At various times we have done all 3 categories at HDDR, and I have to agree that cat 2 is the WORST ! We had cat 2 last August and our seats were so bad and I complained so much that they gave us back 1 dining credit per person ! With cat 1 we were right at the front of stage, you had to look up, and I think it was almost too close. Cat 3 allowed us to be close to the front, but up on the balcony, perfect viewing with no stiff necks ! I actually like cat 3 the best.

This pretty much exactly reflects our experiences there as well. Except we didn't complain with our Cat 2 seats. You can see from the seating diagram when you make your ADRs where you might be seated. So we knew going in that Cat 2 meant we might be seated way in the back. Our Cat 3 seats were great, and the cast members still come up to the balcony to interact with the guests.

HOOP-DEE-DO-REVIEW CAT-3 SEATING:

1) Cat-3 isn't bad, if
. . . you don't mind turning around - one half of seats face away from stage
. . . you might have a pillar in your way - five posts per side
. . . your kids are tall enough - short kids might have railing in the way
. . . you don't mind climbing stairs to your seat - not handicapped accessible
2) Some people don't mind Cat-3.
. . . entertainers still visit the upstairs
. . . the food is not cold
. . . they like viewing down on the stage

Let's face it, whether HDDR, Broadway, or your local live theater, the expensive
seats (eg. Cat-1 at HDDR) are ALWAYS the best. Sure, some like the balcony
at HDDR, but Cat-1 is still the best.

We decided to go last minute so we just booked Category 3 seats. They were pretty empty and we actually wound up sitting in category 1! Couldn't beat that! :)

While having to turn around and face away from the table during the show wasn't IDEAL, we still had a wonderful time in Cat. 3 and would do it again.
