I posted my dilemma within a thread on the main dining board ("Angry about HDDR"), but I have not received a response. Since this is dining plan related, it might be better to post here.

Here's the relevant portion of my original post:

. . . If you have the dining plan and use 2 TS credits for HDDR (which can be either cat 2 or 3 only), how do they determine who gets cat 2 seating on the floor and who gets seated up in the balcony?

The way I am understanding this, because of my mother, who can walk but cannot climb stairs, we will need to pay cat 1 prices OOP in order to be assured a table on the floor? Am I correct? . . .

My mother can walk fine; although, her steps are short, and her feet stay as low to the ground as one can get without actually dragging their feet (or "scooting," as my dad says). You would never know that she has a debilitating handicap by looking at her. When she lifts her leg into a position that one would when climbing stairs, it is not only excruciatingly painful, but her foot draws inward to such an extreme that it makes stair climbing completely impossible. She must always use ramps and elevators, or just not go at all.

SO . . . Will we be able to use 2 TS credits and be guaranteed a cat 2 floor seat due to the handicap, or do I just pay OOP for cat 1 and forget about it?

Thanks!

I think your best bet is to call dining and find out. Hopefully they should be able to tell you whether Cat 2 is sold out for your night. If it isn't, I don't see why you wouldn't be seated in Cat 2 with DDP since seating is assigned based on when you reserve - just tell them you want to book Cat 2 seating with DDP. Explain why you want to be seated Cat 2 on the main floor and see what they say. The tiered seating really hasn't been around long enough to know for sure without calling.
