HDDMR - Does anyone NOT like it?

We don't like it either! The food is beyond bad.(dry tasteless processed ...yuck) The free wine and beer might help that , if they ever gave you refills. The show!!! incredibly corny, hokey, cheesy what ever adjective you want to throw in that results in lame.

Dunno, I had a lot worse food IMO at crystal palace for sure. IMO, the HDDR was a BLAST. Was just my wife and I. The worst part was the 'pre-show' stuff. IE: them trying to get everyone to take a picture outside / checking you in etc etc, seemed VERY un organized, but we got in and seated and stuff was right on time!.

LOVED the cornbread, the ribs and chicken I thought were pretty good also, not sure about the person befor me that said it was dry. My chicken was juiced up :).

The time FLEW by, I couldnt believe we had been there for 2 hours when they did their final act. Having merlot in a mason jar was kinda wierd :), but I never had any problems getting refills and such. I'll admit they didnt just bring you refills, you did have to get their attention sometimes, but it always shows up quickly.

We went once, when the kids were little. They loved the corny jokes, etc. Half our party liked the food, they other half (I was in that group) didn't. But it was fun to do once.

Unfortunately for us, we did the last show, and the "commute" back to our resort was horrendous. We waited for a bus at Fort Wilderness (to TTC), then has to squish on that. Then we waited for a bus at the TTC (to DTD)and had to squish on to that. Then had to wait for a bus to our resort. All of this with 5 kids age range 5-9. They were miserable and so were we! Any buzz from the "free" beer and wine was erased big-time!

So memories of HDDR are passable food, and those awful late-night bus rides. I think the bus service has been addressed since then, but I wouldn't chance scheduling the later show.

I also want to add that one of the reasons there so many negative reviews is that the question is "does anyone not like it". I did a lot of research on this before we went since it is so pricey and most reviews were much more slanted to the positive. No doubt, its not gourmet, a lot of people don't like that sort of show/humor and its really expensive. But I think overall, the general consensus is less negative. And I am not saying these negative reviews are wrong, just that you asked only one side of the equation so that is more what you will get in the way of responses.

And for the poster that had an age range in her group up to 80, I think this show would be perfect. I know that as I sat there during our time, I was really wishing we would have taken my parents when we went to WDW with them a few years ago.

And for the later shows they do now have busses that take people directly from Ft. Wildnerness to the resorts. They generally have several resorts sharing a bus. For instance ours went to CSR, the All Stars and AKL. So it wasn't a completely direct route and the bus was full to standing room only but at least it got people back to the resort they were staying at.

We went twice last year.

H and I were on a solo trip in January, and had never been to Hoop de Doo before. Friends raved about it, so we decided to give it a shot. He had a blast - the show was funny, the food was really good, and it was a fun night. When we returned in November, we had our DD(3), MIL and FIL with us, and thought they might enjoy it as well. It was mostly a different cast, who were not as talented or funny, and the food just wasn't up to par with what we'd had the previous visit. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves, but it wasn't the rousing success from the trip before. H and I are going to WDW alone again in Sept., and we will skip Hoop de Doo this time. I would maybe consider going again (if available) in a few years, when the kids are older.

Our entire family loves this dinner show. We love the food and the show! It is a favorite. Last time we stayed at WL it was just a short boat trip back to our room.

We will definately do this again.

I tried calling earlier today to see if I could book the Review. The CM told me that in order to use my DxDDP, I had to book the 9:30 show. My DD wouldn't want to (and couldn't) sit through a 2 hr show that started at 9:30, so I declined. Now, after some reading, I see that this rule only applies to Cat 1 seating, right?

Now, on a very important topic....what kind of beer do they serve? :upsidedow

And, if we are staying at Poly, is there an easy way to get back after the show?

They serve Bud light and I guess the easiest way back to the Poly would be to take the boat to MK than the mono to Poly

It's one of those "you have to do it once" kind of things. The food is hardly memorable, but the show itself isn't bad.
And yes-Bud Light was the only beer they had--forcing me to actually drink something else that evening.

We went once. The show was good and so was the food, but we found once was enough. I would recommend that you try it though. We have friends that go every year and love it each time.

The food and service I thought were great (my DS10 was in the show!) Now would I go back and burn 2 TS for it , NO. Just too pricey.

Each of my kids had one VOMIT day after eating here. NEVER again !!

We did it once in Dec. 2003 Even though the room was only about 1/2 full, they still had all the tables packed in tight-felt like we were dining with the family next to us. You are supposed to arrive quite a bit before the show but you are kept waiting outside, with very little seating. Did I mention it was December- brrr! The chicken was barely warm. Seconds of the chicken were better. My DD really enjoyed it, she was 4 at the time. We won't be back. If on DDP, I wouldn't use 2 TS for it when I can do CG or Narcoossee's. And I think it's too expensive if paying for it OOP. JMHO

They serve Bud light and I guess the easiest way back to the Poly would be to take the boat to MK than the mono to Poly

If it's still running you can take the boat the Contemporary and the monorail back to the Poly as well. Bit of a shorter trip that way.

We went this past December and probably won't go back. We went after reading all of the great reviews and wondering what we were missing. The food was good and the show was relatively entertaining but it wasn't something that we felt like we had never seen before. Its the style of show that they do at many theme parks, so we just felt like we had already seen it. And, we really didn't feel like it was worth the 2 credits. So, it was a fun thing to do and okay with us since we were there for 10 days. If we had been there a shorter amount of time I think we would have felt like we wasted our time with it.
