HD video camera recommendations?

I would like to get a new video camera for our July Disney trip. I want a good-quality HD that records on its own hard drive. Do you have any that you would recommend? I am willing to spend up to $1200 but would like to spend less if there is a good one that has less bells and whistles. It would be nice to have one that does a good job in low lighting too, as it seems that my current one struggles with that (not HD). TIA for any info

have you thought about a camera with video capabilities? I have seen some amazingly good Hi-def video from cameras that record on cheap SD cards.

We got a Canon HG20; so far it's been working very well for us. I haven't played with it a ton, but it's comfortable in the hand and the picture quality has been very good.
