If you have HBO, this sounds like a great movie, beginning to air tonight on HBO.
Biography of Temple Grandin

I have read Temple Grandin's fascinating books and am looking forward to watching it. She is a woman with autism who has used her different view of the world to do some unlikely sounding things. She has been involved in humane treatment of animals for many years and has designed most of the animal handling facilities in the US.

I just got done reading one of her books after hearing a great interview with her on NPR last week. I had never heard of Temple Grandin until last week. This is the first time I have ever been disappointed that we don't have HBO.

I definitely wish I had HBO for this movie! Temple Grandin is amazing and has greatly improved the understanding of Autism.

I read her book, Thinking in Pictures in about 1992 and had thought it would make an interesting movie (but not sure how to film it).

I was very pleasantly surprised at Claire Danes in the preview on the HBO site. She picked up the rhythms of Grandin's speech very well. I don't have HBO but I am sure I can get ahold of the movie somehow. Like Temple Grandin, my daughter didn't speak at four either. Fortunately my child was born in 2002 instead of in a time when all autistic people were assumed to be unreachable. Thankfully Grandin's family didn't give up her.

The most interesting thing I read about her was when she was speaking about the first time she saw a computer aided design program. A friend was telling her about how wonderful the program was because the design could be rotated to see it from other sides/perspectives.
At that point, Temple understood that other people could not see things the way she does. She has always seen things in the way the computer program does and didn't realize that was unusual and most other people could not imagine things that way.

I have heard a lot of hype about this movie, and I really want to watch it. Hopefully it will be OnDemand, because my DH will probably NOT want to watch it. I might be spending the evening in our bedroom!

I'm with some of the other posters, this is about the first time I wished I had HBO, looks like a great movie.

agnes!

I am looking forward to seeing this someday when it's on dvd. I am going to see Temple Grandin give a lecture next week. :)

I am watching right now on HBO! It is amazing. The story, the acting. Fabulous. :thumbsup2

I watched and DVR'd it last night. It was incredibly well done. My DH and DD watched it too and thought it was wonderful. DD said it was in her top movies of all time.

It may very well be on demand this week. Sat. movies often are.
