I have older kids, the youngest is 18. I still keep a parental guidance control on the cable tv however because there are some things I DO NOT WANT in my house. Last night DS21 was watching King Kong on HBOZ. He fell asleep and the movie ended at 11 pm. At 11pm "shock video" came on. I couldn't believe what was airing at 11 pm on HBO. It was absolutely Porn. This is the third time this has happened. I called the cable company and was told that it was a "glitch". I told him that the first time is a glitch, anything after than is a "problem". The parental control works because it blocks out Suma wrestling on ESPN. I plan to call tomorrow when regular business resumes and talk to a manager. I am posting this because no one should feel comfortable that the parental control function on your cable box blocks everything. It also doesn't block porn disguised as "documentaries".

It may not be the cable company. They have very little to do with anything other than blocking channels (entirely). If you're using content blocking, then that service always has and always will rely on the broadcaster to pass-along the correct signal. If the broadcaster doesn't pass-along any signal, or doesn't pass-along the correct signal, then the feature will not be activated.

That's correct. HBO is not passing on the correct signal. But I would think that cable companies, who deliver HBO's product can address the issue with HBO so that they properly encode the broadcast. It's not like Cox is a little vendor and if Cox is having this problem, it wouldn't surprise me that other cable companies are too. HBO should have some responsibility in this and only the cable companies are really in the position to address it...except, can cancel HBO, which isn't a bad idea.

Cox can surely try. Good luck with that.
