HB+ vouchers & Shareholder discount

I googled this question but only found answers from 2010.

Would this hypothetical situation work.....

Can we eat at a resturant, use the 15% shareholder off the total and then pay the remainder with the face value of the voucher?

And even cheekier, can we use 1 voucher or 3 vouchers at a meal for 2?

These situations are unlikely but I just wanted to see what our options might be.

I don't think you can use 3 vouchers at face value for a meal where there are only 2 of you eating, but you can certainly use one or 2 .

And yes, you can use shareholders discount and face value of your half board vouchers. When you ask for the bill, give them your shareholders card so they can apply the shareholders discount. When they bring the bill, you give them your vouchers and any extra money you need to pay.

Afaik you can't combine a discount with a voucher, it's one or the other. I know that the AP's are clear on this and looking at what is written on the shareholders site it looks to be the same

But I could be wrong and/or it will depend on the CM.

thats strange Carrie - I've used half board vouchers at face value in Restaurant des Stars, Cafe Mickey, and Annettes, and have also used my shareholders card for 15% off the bill, then paid the bill using a combination of face value vouchers and cash.

no idea Carrie - unless they mean if you use your half board voucher in its entirety ie not as face value ? If you're using the vouchers as face value, its just like paying cash afaik.

We've got vouchers for the first time this summer. We've bought them so we could benefit from a larger discount and I was a little concerned as to whether we'd be able to benefit from shareholders discount if we decide to eat from the non-set menu and use them at face value, also if we want drink refills as I understand they entitle you to one drink each if you have the set menu or eat at a buffet. The CM assured me I can use shareholders discount in both scenarios, whether it's using them at face value or purchasing extra drinks.

I'm reading it to mean that you can't benefit from the shareholders disount and the annual pass perk of a complimentary drink. When we first had our APs we used to be able to have a drink (the kir was very nice (!) and some CMs used to allow the girls to have a complimentary coke instead of orange juice) on showing our APs then we could pay with shareholders discount and all the restaurants allowed it. Then the following year it changed and it became one or the other and the T&C for the AP were amended to cover this.

When we went to Inventions last year they wouldn't let us pay some with the HB+ vouchers and then use the shareholders discount on the remainder. The reasoning was this was that the vouchers already gave you a discount as their face value is more than you pay for them...

Exactly what I was concerned about as I was sure I'd read on here that some people are successful and others aren't.

I wouldn't normally get vouchers as there doesn't seem much point when I've got a shareholders card but ended up buying them this time in order to benefit from a better deal. If I can't use the shareholders discount for the extras I'm not going to lose any sleep over it but it reinforces my belief that they're not worth having.

Guess as is always the case at DLP, it depends on the CM at the time but it shouldn't be this way.

see I'd have argued that point - you don't get any discount using the vouchers at face value at all.
If you book half board vouchers from a country which uses the euro (like Ireland for example) you pay the face value of the voucher (so if for example the face value of the voucher is 26 euros, thats what you pay). No discount. From the UK, you pay for your half board vouchers in sterling - but you pay the equivalent of the face value of the voucher, dependant on the exchange rate at the time the DLP half board vouchers prices were published in the brochure.

Having said all that, I have only ever used the combination of half board vouchers at face value and shareholders discount when we've had the all your meals free deal.
I wouldn't buy half board vouchers now, I don't think they are worth it at all, if you have either APs or shareholders discount.

In my experiance it depends on the CM . Some times you get it some times you don't.

If I get a CM that won't I ask for the bill to be split so the food goes on one bill and the drinks on another. Pay for the food with the vouchers and then use the Shareholder discount on the drinks bill - which is normaly much more than the food bill by the time that second bottle of wine or that extra cocktail has been added to it.
