Hay fever -

Are you or yours suffering at the moment ? Do you have an effective remedy?

Luckily, we all seem to be okay at the moment (touching wood as I type LOL!)

Are the conditions generally bad for sufferers at the moment? I'm very fortunate in that I only ever get the occasional very mild symptom, and usually only after doing something to trigger it off, like mowing the lawn. DH and DDs have so far escaped even more lightly.

Mind you, it's usually so much wetter here in Wales that maybe we're less likely to get it anyway!

Both sons are suffering Hilary - DS2 has prescribed medicine and has hay fever allergy induced asthma i.e. his allergy brings on asthma and he isn't asthmatic in the Winter months and so he is on inhalers, eye drops and tablets. He seems t be particularly allergic to certain tree pollen.

DS1 is also suffering right now - more from congestion than anything else, so much so that he has actually agreed to take something for it. He is trying out Benadril Plus.

Oh dear . That sounds awful, Shirley. I hope your DSs are managing to cope as best they can - especially with the exams season under way.

It makes me realise how fortunate my family is.

Shirley I feel for them.

Mine is partuclarly bad at the moment. It affects my eyes more than anything and they are constantly sore, itchy and streaming. I usually use Antistin eye drops but they don't seem to help at all at the moment.

I did buy some drops over in the US but even they're not helping now Horrible! Glad it wasnt this bad on the wedding day...what a sight!

It sounds silly but I was actually much worse in May then I am this month. I have even been able to limit my prescribed hayfever tablets to every other day rather than every day.

My eyes have been quite sore and itchy this week and my nose has been really sore. I bought some nasal drops from Boots last week, they are doing a 3 for 2 promotion at the moment, so that saved me £7.00, first time in a while that I have gotten something for nothing!!!

I suffered badly in my teens and 20's but since turning 30 it has reduced each year and now at 46 I have only had to take 2 Zirtek this year - my sympathy to anyone with Hay Fever especially those taking exams.

i'm taking neoclarityn prescribed by my doctor and they're making a big difference

my eyes aren't itching and i'm not bunged up

I get mild hayfever...runny eyes n nose...nothing too dramatic...
DD (16) has had it since she was 5...
like WDWfan,uk's son......she is on inhalers for asthma related hay fever.....antihistamine tablets...nasal spray and eye drops...
altho very luckily seems much better at the moment having just nearly completed her GCSE's.
and yes......hers is tree pollen as a main culprit.....so is on medication from february thru to october...

have tried many alternative therapies/treatments/old wives tales.....the best one seemed to b a spoonful of locally produced honey a day....

DH suffers luckily I am OK. Doesn't stop him from going out on the Golf course practically every day

I suffer quite badly but later in the year - Aug/Sept time so have only have the odd sniff so far.

Well, so far (touch wood) I've not been too bad this year! I've had the odd little sniffle and sneeze, but that's all thank goodness...like your DS Shirley, it can trigger my asthma which is not much fun so he has my sympathies

I suffer a lot and quite badly too... I find tablets (prescribed and non prescribed) have little to no effect. The hayfever also fires up a bad fur allergy too.. So no hugging my rat since she sheds constantly.. or any long haired cats.

Mine has come on so suddenly over the past 5 years. From a slight snuffle at the beginning, light cold sypmtoms for months last year and full blown hell this year!

Has anybody found that their hayfever dissappears in Florida due to change in humidity/pollens??

I think my youngest DD is suffering from Hay Fever, it is not nice as all day Friday at school she was sneezing sore itchy eyes etc....the grass had just been cut. We will have to take her to the doc's just to make sure, I dont want to be giving her anything I shouldn't

I'm another sufferer too.
I used to get it so bad it was like having an asthama attack at times even though I am not asthamatic.
The older I am getting the less severe it seems to be but over the last couple of days, my eyes have been particulary sore.
When I went to Majorca in May, we had a villa which was surrounded in greenery and the hayfever got bad again so I went to the local pharmacy and they gave me these tablets, one a day, a pack of 20 for about £3.00. They were the best thing I have ever taken . I wish I had bought a few packs now as I am running out. I am in Greece on holiday in July and I will see if I can get the same ones.
