Has anyone used Hawaiian Airlines Lei service? I would love to do that for our family as an added touch to our trip. We decided to rent a car so the lei add on to transportation ist an option anymore.

If you’ve used the Hawaiian Air one was it good? The website makes it sound like you go ask for one at baggage. That’s not super magical and at that point I’ll just buy one elsewhere.

oh how I’d love if Aulani was still doing this. Little things like this make all the difference in an experience at a resort. On trip to DL with my son as a toddler, Pluto sat with him in the lobby watching tv while we checked in to the Disneyland Hotel.. from that moment I was hooked on Disney for life. It’s the small things.

Only been to Aulani once (Dec 2023), so never experienced the lei at Aulani. How did it used to work? Everyone would get a lei upon arrival? Did it matter if you were booked on cash or DVC? That would be a nice little touch to bring back. Or even the option to have it as an add-on service would be cool.

We are new DVC and never been to Aulani, I’ve just seen it mentioned in passing that they used to give them at arrival.

I think if they made Lei greeting at check in for DVC members that would be a huge marketing tool. For sure people would want to know how they get a Lei greeting at check in and when told DVC, I bet they’d do the tour.

But also yes I would for sure have paid for this as an add on.

Agreed. My dad was bum'd/annoyed that his grandson (my son) didn't get the sparkly pool bands when we were there. lol. When I explained that the sparkly bands were for DVC members only, my dad had major FOMO and replied very calmly and matter of fact, "We'll get those next time." I imagine if they were full on lei's my dad would've bought DVC right then and there! Haha.

I am just imagining a scenario...you approach the desk to check in... a lady in a hula skirt approaches with leis and says "are you a DVC member" as she begins to drape a lei over your neck.. you say "yes, but resale only" and she immediately backs away, tut-tutting, hoping that lei didn't touch you on its way back to her...

Hahahaaaa

In all seriousness I think it’s really sad they don’t do the lei greeting any more at Aulani. It’s such a quintessential Hawaiian touch that went away “due to Covid” and has stayed away due to budget cuts.

Im sad I will miss it. Id even pay for it.

So I found the reviews for the Lei service from Hawaiian and they all look really good and not impersonal like I was thinking it may be. I think Im going to do it. I do have one more question if anyone has flown in Hawaiian Air is baggage claim far out of the way if you aren't checking a bag? Current me says I am not paying to check a bag, future me will likely check a bag once I start packing and remember how much stuff I always pack.

Thanks for this, i didn't know they did this. Its our first time flying Hawaiian and I'm totally going to do this as a surprise. Celebrating my mom's 75th and this will be a nice touch.

You’re welcome. When is your trip? If after mine I can report back how it went.

I have a stay coming up in October (first time, very excited) and I mentioned to the agent on the phone how disappointed I was that they don’t present leis upon check in. The gal told me that Aulani doesn’t have someone that can supply them with enough leis for their needs since Covid. Lame, I know.

I guess it’s nice that they have an explanation, but this seems insanely weak. We went to the Toa Luau at Waimea Valley, which runs twice a night at least and everyone was given a lei. I find it hard to believe Disney can’t source these. They are sold at ABC stores! I feel it must be a cost savings thing.

Look up the lei shops at the airport. There is a little row of them outside and they are WONDERFUL. A wide selection and often fresher than what you get from the services. We got beautiful leis for the whole family and they lasted our whole trip, just kept them in the fridge. So nice to have for pictures!

Did you ever receive a Lei from Aulani? Curious what you thought of it. I remember my first time getting one from the Fairmont on Maui (it was MUCH cheaper in 2017) & I thought it was the perfect touch to start the trip (my first time in Hawaii).

I agree with the other commentor about bringing it back for DVC members. Maybe a blue lei for the direct contracts & a white one for the resale contracts 😂

I have not :(

Sorry to take things a little off topic, but how was your overall experience at Toa Luau? Were you staying at Aulani when you attended? It looks like a great option in a beautiful setting, but then I wonder if the convenience of the Aulani one is worth the extra cost to avoid having to drive there and back.
