After 2 cruises (2002 and 2003) our group of 12 (3 families) decided on a change...we are all going to Hawaii for 10 days. I am really looking forward to it but all of our groups kids would rather be going back on the Disney Magic...they even went so far as to put on a variety show on why we should go back!! We adults have promised them we will go back in 2005!! Can't wait!

That's a hard one but you'll LOVE Hawaii also!:sunny:
You'll just need to take ALOT of $ for food since you can't just call for 'free' room service when you want, or go up and get a pizza, chicken fingers, etc................:(

Hawaii is beautiful and you will love it - A bit of advice though, it is EXPENSIVE - We got a room with a kitchen and went grocery shopping - The price of food is outrageous! Start saving now!

I actually lived in Hawaii for 5 years...stationed there in the Army in the early 80's. We have a condo on Lewers St near the Halekulani with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen and 2 lanais...all for $139 per night (thanks to my cousin who stays there for 6 weeks a year for the last 20+ years). I will miss the cruise so much though.

I think that's great!

If I could afford it, I'd choose Hawaii too, since I've already cruised.

Have an awesome time!!!

Sounds great Jillie. We're giving the Magic a break this summer and doing Hawaii with the kids this summer. Looking for a place like you have, where we can cook our own meals. Where did you find your place? If you like you can PM me the contact details.
Thanks.

Jillie, we have also decided after being on the Magic in 99, 01, 02 and 03 to try something new and go on a 10 day Hawaiian cruise. I'm thrilled to be going to Hawaii, I just wish that I could take the Magic along with us!
Think it can fit in my suitcase?

Jillie,
Well you could do both like we are.(BG) Actually DDad is paying for our flights to Hawaii or we couldn't afford both. We are going as a family to spread my Mom's ashes, she passed in early December. My parents were planning on moving there they loved it so much, even had the house up for sale and were looking for jobs. Now we are going to see all the places she loved. A first trip for the entire family except DDad.
The cruise will be just the immediate family, tried to get Dad to go, but he is worried he will get seasick, never having gone on a cruise.
In Hawaii we got 4 condos, two on The Big Island, and two on Maui. We found them on VRBO.com. The two on The Big Island are at the Royal Sea Cliff in Kona, one was 2 br top floor, OV $125 plus tax (11.25%)a night, 7th night free, the other one there was 2br also OV $125 plus tax and cleaning fee. In Maui, we are at the Maui Sunset in Kehei, 2 br oceanfront and 2 br OV, they ended up about the same price for the week. Would have probably gone to Kanapali in Maui, but some of the family could not afford those accomodations so we ended up in Kehei. In Oahu we pricelined 3 rooms at the Hawaiian Prince, $95 per night/per room plus tax and fees, that is just a room, not a condo. Some of the condos have a 7 night minimum, esp. in the high season. Can you tell I really want to talk about this trip. Can't seem to find any Disneylike forums on the subject.
Then 6 months later we are going on the Eastern Disney Cruise for Halloween. Got an e-mail from AAA and just couldn't pass up the deal they offered for that cruise when the kids won't miss much school (NJ week). Life is short, and kids grow up real fast. Since we can do this we are, the minivan will just have to wait another year.
Enjoy Hawaii!
