Hawaii Help

Hi everyone,
I need some MAJOR help, we want to trade and go to hawaii in Aug 2009, I will have 84 points from 2008 and 100 points coming in Oct 09, for a total of 184, it looks like I will need 160 at the most for a 1 bedroom, here is where I need HELP... I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO MAKE A TRADE, what it entails, where to begin, I need this all explained from the beginning

I just went through this in May. I posted a thread on just how to make the ressie, step by step, but I don't know how to tell you to find the thread. I posted in in the Planning threads area. It should be labeled like How to make a II Resort Reservation or something like that. Ask the tech people on these boards to help you find that thread. If I find it, I will PM you.

I just did this a couple of weeks back so.....
just call member services and choose the option for exchange via interval international.
tell the agent what and when you're looking for, if they have an instant match you can book it right then. Otherwise, you pay 75 dollars and they start a search for you. You have to be VERY SPECIFIC with your dates and the hotels because if they find anything that matches your search criteria, it is automatically booked and your points are exchanged. There's no turning back!! (Well matter of speaking - you can still cancel, but you have only 1 year to use them again - and it has to be within the interval international system).
Basically when you start the search, you sit and wait for them to send you a confirmation! you can cancel the search at any time and recoup your 75 bucks.

Member services should be able to help you and walk you through the process. I am looking at possibly trying in '09 or '10 to go to Hawaii as well through Intervale. While Hawaii is highly desirable your in luck as Disney is just as desireable lol. I will send you a PM with a link to a timeshare users group that may be of assistance, I don't remember if I can post it here or not without getting in trouble after I post this message. I know that if intervale fails you can probably work out something direct with an owner at a place in HI your interested in going to, from what I've heard they will be lining up to get a crack at a Disney place on-site as DVC members rarely go outside of the Disney system and it is pretty tuff to transfer into. A lot of people from both hawaii and the Caribean want to go to Disney. Hope it helps.. If anyone else wants the link to TUG which is the timeshare users group just let me know. It is a good site and connects people up from the various trading companies such as II, DVC, RCI, and a few others. I am looking to go to Lahaina Maui myself in a few years and have already met a few nice people that are looking to go to Disney in a few years as well. So we have exchanged information and when we are both ready we may just do it directly and treat it as me setting up a ressie for them as a guest of mine and vice versa, just like you were letting your brother/sister use your DVC for a trip. Pretty cool that there is more than one way to accomplish your travel goals lol, thank god for the internet. People years ago would have been shut out lol.

Overall DVC is not nearly as high a trade value as Hawaii. Many people have that trouble getting in even when they plan two years out. For 184 points you'll only able to ask for properties that have one bedrooms or less.Fortunately that doesn't rule out many properties other than one of the Marriott on Kauai. If you can go late August and actually may be lower points than 160.

The process is you need to decide which resorts you will accept and then call member services with the dates and properties. It is best to give them exact dates and the resort codes. Searching one to two years out is best as in this case. Remember to only list things you will accept as they will do automatic confirmation then you lose your points.
