Booked our flights to Hawaii today!! We are flying to HNL on my 40th birthday, spending about 10 days at Aulani (can't book that part yet), and then flying to the Big Island for a week. I am soooo excited!

Awesome. That is my next dream trip. How much did flights cost if u dont mind me asking? Where r you flyin from?

We did 10 nights in Aulani back in August. This was a big vacation we planned long in advance as well. One of the best we've had.

I spent a month in Hawaii.
One week on Maui
One week on Oahu
Two weeks on the Big Island.

It surpassed all my expectations.

Almost two years later and I still think about it all the time.

I didn't stay at Aulani, but I did visit it (it is Disney after all).

WOW! Congrats. I am hoping to be able to post that soon too, next summer is our 20th anniversary and we got married on the Big Island. We have actually been back to Hawaii many times but the last time was 2008.

When on the Big Island, you should try hard to make your way to Hapuna Beach. It is an incredible long stretch of sandy shallow beach that is just incredible. Also, once in a lifetime type of journeys are abundant including Volanos National Park, the astronomy tour to the top of Mauna Kea at night, Waipio valley, (driving down the hill to this valley was very very scary and I dont know if I would do it again cause I looked to my right and saw an old car at the bottom. It took me a few seconds to realize that this wasnt a thrill ride but real life and we could easily end up like that-it is crazy. The beach and valley is unreal tho)
Gosh I could go on and on, there is soooo much to see and do on the BI. Also try to make time to snorkel on Oahu at Hanauma Bay and try if you can to get to Kailua Beach, well worth the drive! Have a wonderful time.

We are flying from Toronto to Oahu, with a stopover in Chicago, then home from Kona with a stop in Los Angeles. We paid $4098, including taxes.

Thanks. It gives me an idea at what I am looking at. Can't wait to have it happen some day.

GreenClan67(and any one else interested)-If you can, look at May or Sept/early October for Hawaii airfare. I think I remember you posting about flying out of Buffalo once before and you will find it to be much cheaper that way as well. If you are willing to fly out of Detroit, that can also be a cost saver. You can get flights as cheap as 600-700 per person if you can fly then. The honeymooners are not quite there in May, spring break is almost over and summer families have yet to come. Same goes for Sept/Oct. Best time to go! I am hoping to go next summer and we are looking at mid to late August with a stop over in Anaheim (hehehe-gee, wonder why...)

Thanks Alohoamom. Great know. We actually live 7 hours from Buffalo. 8 hours from Flint area. So we chack both ways. October sounds like a great time to go l. Thx for the help. You may get more questions.
