OK I have never used this service because we would always do our shopping at DTD and then limited purchases at the parks BUT this year we are not going to DTD therefore I want to hear about others experiences with this service....

I mentioned it to my retired parents that will be traveling with us and they both seemed nervous with the idea.... I said that I dont think there would be any problems but before I push them in that direction and something unexpected happens I thought id ask all your professional disney go'ers out there.

After buying something and telling them you want it sent back to your resort... does it go to the front desk or your room? Any idea how long it takes to get the stuff back? Do you just keep your receipt for proof? Do you have to sign for anything or what kind of tracking is on the purchases?

YOUR help is so much appreciated... funny how often you go and think you have it all figured out... just to find out theres more to learn!!

I learn something new here everyday!!LOL
We love this service. When you are making a purchase you inform them when you pay that you would like it sent to your room. We always have charging privilages on our card so we hand them the card and it has the resort info on it. We have had different experiences at different resorts. Some will leave a message on your phone in your room that your purchases are at the resorts gift shop, or some will deliver it to your room. Either way we have always had it the same day. Maybe once it came the next morning. You do get a receipt and they attatch a copy to the bag with your things. It's simple and easy to use!

I thought I had heard that your items are only brought to your room if you are staying concierge. Otherwise, they are left at your resort's gift shop. Is this correct?

We stayed at POFQ and we were called had to take the receipt to the gift shop and sign. One time we lost the receipt and had to show ID. It took two days to get our stuff. Also, some places (resorts) we were told they don't do this.(resort to resort) There was also somewhere inside on of the parks that said no, but I cant remember where.

I stayed at the POP and used the service alot. I think only food or candy items could not me delivered. We recived a call once our stuff was delivered to hotel gift shop. I think at that hotel it took a day for out items to arrive.

Please ask when it would be delivered to your room before you say yes.

we had stuff delivered to our resort and had no problem we were shopping at dtd and it was at night and we got it early the next morning

I love this service, although it does take a day or two to get to your resort. Esp. if you purchase it late at night. The way I look at it, I'm not gonna use the stuff so it doesn't matter how long it takes.. as long as I don't have to carry it around the parks, rides, and buses.

The only time that we don't use this service is the day before we leave WDW-don't want to chance missing our loot.

I used this service the last trip I took. It was the BEST service ever!!! Once I purchased something it would head over to the resort. I stayed at the CBR and usually by the time I got back from the parks at night, my stuff was nicely placed on my hotel bed. I never ONCE had to go to the resort gift shop!

I am wondering, we are staying at POR does anyone have any experience with package delivery there? Do they take it to your room of just to the gift shop? I reallyed liked it coming to my room!

I just got back from my college program at WDW. I was one of the guys who picked up all the gifts around the Magic Kingdom and got them to the right spots. You can do 2 things at the parks. You can have them sent package pickup and you pick your gifts up at the end of the day. The problem with this is that it will take about 3 hours to get there (seems like 7 if you get anything from the christmas shop) so you will not be able to get it if it has not come to the front of the park. The second option if you are staying at a disney resort is hotel delivery. Now your gift will not be there until the next afternoon but you never have to carry anything! As of when I left the magic kingdom does not have many problems. Now sometimes the shops will forget to put an item in the bag so i recomend watching then seal the bag... also if anything does happen we were very good getting the items replaced within one day (even if we had to scream at the managers in the different shops). The people at Delivery services do handle the packages very nice.. and I will use the service next time i visit WDW. Also with the delivering to the rooms every resort is different. POR you will have to pick up your package at fultons general store... i know a manager there...very nice. But after sept. 11 most resorts stoped doing that and only the top resorts do that still.

*nodding my head in agreement with oboeman*

IMO, this is one of the best services at WDW!! It may take a little bit longer to get your stuff, but it sure beats having to tag your shopping bags along wherever you go in the parks.

Before, I used to have to postpone all the shopping at the park to the end of the day because I didn't want to carry the bags along with me and chance forgetting them somewhere. With Delivery Svc, I can just buy things I want anytime. Love that.

;) DS thought this was the coolest thing he'd ever heard of when we did this. He had only bought a t-shirt at RNR so we could have easily carried it with us, but he wanted it delivered. Made him feel very VIP :snooty:

We use this service all the time, it is at the gift shop the next day for us to pick up. The only time it is a problem is if you are leaving the next day, then you cannot use the service. :)

I've used the service to the hotel many times and never had any problems. I do watch them fill my bag & double check the contents before they seal it. I think it is especially useful for breakable things like my yearly Christmas plate & ornament purchases.

I never knew they would store stuff at the front of the parks though.. I really like that idea and will try the service when I go there in 2 weeks. Thanks obeman:thumbsup2

I thought the service was absolutely wonderful. I loved not having to carry my packages around and keep up with them. It allows you to buy the thing you want when you see it instead of trying to come back later. I noticed that things I bought early in the day usually made it back to my resort the same day and later things were there by the next day. It generally took very little time to pick it up and that was at an All Starts resort. I wouldn't use the service the day before I left though, just in case it didn't make it back in time.

We use this service a lot and love it. I know at the values you pick your stuff up in a day or so in your resort gift shop. Just don't do it the day before you check out, it might not be back in time. They usually ask you what day you are checking out.

We use this service every time we visit and highly recommend it. I will say this past trip (December) one of my pkgs was lost. After waiting for 3 days for it to be delivered we were finally informed the pkg was nowhere to be found. There was a note near our name in the book in our resort gift shop saying the ornaments I had purchased were not available ANYWHERE on property. Being the hard-headed person I am I set out to find the ornaments again and VOILA! I found all of them in MK! The resort gift shop CMs apologized for the inconvenience and happily refunded our money. I suggest holding on to those receipts. It will save you lots of grief if something gets lost.

I just love this feature!! Unfortunately, we use it every trip:laughing: . We had stayed at the All Star Movies a few years back and had waited until we went to Downtown Disney to do all of our souvienier shopping (they still had the Disney Club card then and you got 10% off). Anyway, we took full advantage of the package delivery feature. The next day, we had a message on our room phone saying that our packages were at the gift shop. We walked down and I presented my receipts to the CM at the register. He said "Are we glad you're here! Did you bring someone to help you? I don't think you can carry ALL THOSE BAGS YOURSELF!!" BTW, I managed those 8 bags back to the room myself just fine! Definitely take advantage of it. It's such a nice perk:cloud9:

We did this and everything worked out great. When you make your purchase just tell them that you want it delivered to your resort. They told us to pick it up at our resort's gift shop on the following day. I want to say that they said after 3:00 or 4:00 or something like that. Our main concern was, did they send the same thing you actually picked out more than when it got there. Of course, they do as they put the name/resort information on the bag after you pay.
