Having trouble getting a room for 5 at AKL

I've been trying since last November to book a room at AKL. I need a deluxe savannah room as that will sleep 5. According to the website, no rooms available for 5. Could this be due to DVC construction? Is DVC taking over the rooms for 5 or is it a separate building? Aggravating!

The deluxe rooms on the 5th and 6th floors, which accommodate five, are being converted to the DVC.

So there will be no rooms in the future for families of 5? This is rather depressing to me! No wonder I couldn't find a room no matter what dates I put in. Looks like I'll have to go to Plan B.

Don't trust the website. Call CRO and check to see what's available. The website is not very reliable. It's best used to check out features and pricing rather than availability.

The deluxe rooms were actually on the 4th and 5th floors (6th floor was exclusively club level) so once the conversion is completed for DAKV there should be some deluxe rooms with bunk beds available. Due to the ongoing work, much of the 4th floor is also being taken out of service to minimize guest impact for those actually at the resort. There will be fewer DAKL rooms that sleep 5 once the project is complete but there will still be a few.

However, on a positive note many of the 1BR villas for DAKV will sleep 5 (king bed in the master BR, queen sleeper and a twin sleeper chair in the living room) so there may actually be an increased number of rooms in Jambo House that sleep 5 when the conversion is completed. The 1BR villas will also have full kitchen facilities AND a lovely deep whirlpool jetted tub.

I'm not an AKL expert by a long shot but I think only the 5th and 6th floor had deluxe rooms. As you said, 6th floor deluxe rooms were all club level as were some on 5th. 5th floor also has some smaller rooms which will be at a lower point cost for DVC..standard.

So no deluxe rooms left in AKL.

And actually since a 1 BR villas takes the space of 2 former deluxe AKL rooms, there will be fewer villas for families of 5 than before the conversion. However, there will be many more when Kidani Vilaage opens in early 2009.:thumbsup2

when will construction be complete? AKL is my dream resort and I was hoping to go next summer, however we are another family of 5 that seems to be so neglected in Disney hotels!

The conversions in the current AKL were scheduled to be complete in May of '08 so you should be set. The new DVC only building is supposed to open in early 2009.

However reports are that they are already working on the areas that were to be the last ones completed so the original building may be finished earlier???:confused3

I would call directly anyone with 3 or more kids I can't seem to book a room no matter how old the kids are online.
