Having separate MDE accounts and Genie+ ?

i know I’ve asked a variation of this question before, but this one is a little more specific

I’m just trying to make sure I have everything down before this March trip as this will be the first time using Genie+.

Both my wife and I have seperate MDE app accounts. But our friends & family list shows up on both accounts. My strategy for each day is to have one of us making our paid ILL passes and one making the regular genie+ pass at 7am. Since we have our own logins, but our friends/family lists on each account show the same names, will my wife be able to make selections for our whole party at the same time I am?

The reason I’m questioning it is that it shows my son’s (13) plans as “managed by” me. It even shows this under her friends/family list that our son’s plans are “managed by” me. I just worry that means she can’t make ride plans for our son under her account. Appreciate the clarification on what this means. Thanks

I don't believe she can make plans for him.

My daughter has her own account. My MIL has her own account. They are both linked to mine. FIL, DH and my sons are all "managed by me." My daughter and MIL cannot link to them since they don't have their own accounts. So, my daughter and MIL can only make plans for the three of us.

On our last trip, my daughter snagged ILL for Remy for the three of us. I had to then keep trying so I could get them for FIL, DH and my sons since they are only under me.

Now, as long as I'm the one making the reservation, I can choose everyone. But my daughter and MIL could not choose those only managed by me.

Yikes. Disney should make it so a kid can be associated with BOTH parental accounts. What’s the best way to fix this to do what I want to do? Having both my wife and I being able to make ride selections for all of us?

I tried an experiment just now where I went on my wife’s MDE and acted like I was going to make a ride selection for our group. It is showing all three of our names. I just couldn’t book since we don’t have tickets for today. But I’m curious since it was showing myself and our son’s name going through the motions of booking an attraction if she would have been able to make a selection for everyone?

i just want to make sure I have this down before we go since I know every second counts with this new genie+. Ugh I wanna go back to FP

I don't know. It has never worked for us that way.

My husband just logs into my MDE when he's the one making the reservations.

From my experience you should be OK as long as:

1) Anyone who wants to make any sort of G+ or ILL selections has everyone else linked in their friends/family. If you can see them on your friends/family list then you should be able to add them to a party and book any reservations

2) For G+ make sure they have paid for G+ for that day ... this is where the 'managed by' may come into play

I've had no problem booking G+ with people on multiple accounts with 1 one them having their plans 'managed by some else'. As long as they were in my list and had G+ purchased I could add them to my party. The same for ILL purchases.

I think the 'managed by' comes into play when actually purchasing G+, as that would have to be done by the person managing the account. If someone wants to individually cancel a selection, the person managing their account may also have to do that

We have genie+ pre-purchased already

I think you should be fine. You were allowed to see and select all three which is the important part. If you had tickets and G+ active for that day you would have been able to complete the selection for everyone. Now if your son didn't want to ride the selected attraction, I think there's the possibility that only you may have the ability to cancel his selection as you manage his account. Not 100% on this but I think cancellations might only be made by the owners of the account?
