I've really had my heart set on Portofino Bay and I honestly don't want to change the hotel but now I am having second thoughts. On one side I'm telling myself to ignore those reviews that not everyone is going to say something nice. On the other side I'm wondering.... Oh you know what, I'm not changing!
I LOVE Portofino Bay and stayed 5 nights last year, a few nights this Jan and am going for 7 nights next month..Take the reviews on trip advisor with a grain of salt..People love to complain more than praise
Hmmm. They don't look bad to me. Remember that mostly the unhappy people post there. Go look at the reviews for the Disney hotels and you'll find the same thing.
Portofino rooms were all just renovated. The food is excellent. There will always be some people who have things go wrong.
Reading some of the complaints...someone was unhappy that they couldn't get a late checkout of 2 pm, someone was unhappy because they couldn't get fresh juice, someone was unhappy because they had to walk a lot, someone was unhappy because it was fake (um, the REAL Portofino Bay is fake too!), someone was unhappy because the "plaza" was empty (like the real Portofino Bay...and it is piazza not plaza).
There are complaints about things that are really pretty petty.
i think there are some that will say just the opposite of how it actually was at a hotel, or maybe they have never stayed there and just trying to direct potential customers to other hotel sites.
that's my thought on trip advisor.
you can read old and recent trip reports in these forums.
with the detail that are in their threads, you know they have stayed onsite.
many have praise for the onsite hotels.
a few will state if anything went wrong and had dissatisfaction with the room or hotel.
I read on trip advisor a lady staying at PBH was charged for Kureig cups even though she did not use them.
Have other experienced this, should I be on the look out. I will bring mine from home if i will be changed.

you get 4 pods of coffee/tea replenished each day.
if you need more than 4 pods, there could be a charge if you go thru star service or the front desk.
i read some reports that the guest asked the housekeeper in the hallway for extra pods and it was not put on as a charge on her hotel bill.
if a person does not use any of the pods, they won't be replenished each day by the housekeeper.
if that would happen, the front desk can remove erronous charges off your bill.
I'm bringing my own pods any way, we are coffee drinkers and I don't want to run out! Lol. ...I wouldn't mind paying for extras, I just don't want to wait. .. it takes each of us 3 or more cups to get started in the morning
I see your second post that you're not moving, but what were some of the reviews you were seeing that had you worried?
I haven't stayed since they renovated, so I can't speak to how the rooms look, but we have LOVED our stays there.
I'm not a huge fan of the new regime with charging for getting extra k-cups, but that's easily remedied by bringing our own.
But still, we love the resort.
And I have never done a review on tripadvisor, nor will I trust them. They seem to be flat out wrong too often when reviewing Disney(land and world) resorts.
We made our first trip to Uni last week and were originally going to stay at PB, but changed to RP because my stepdaughter decided to go with us and we ended up needing two rooms. Cost-wise, RP was better for that. However, my husband and I spent a few hours checking out both PB and HRH just to see what they were like. Overall I thought PB was absolutely beautiful, BUT I was glad we'd switched to RP because there was still a lot of construction/renovation going on, walking detours, all sorts of "mess" in general around the grounds (IMHO). The fact that it was pouring rain the afternoon we were there probably didn't help, LOL!
