I will give you a quick review.

Accomodations: Strand Palace Hotel - Anything but a palace, it was nice enough but the rooms were very small. Some of the hallways could use a rehab

Sites Visited:
Covent Garden
Westminster Abbey
Tower of London
Trafalgar Square
Oxford Street (shopping)
Piccadilly Circus
Leicester Square
Buckingham Palace and the Changing of the Guards
Thames Cruise
London Eye
London Aquarium (I don't know why the kids wanted to do this. We have two great aquariums less than an hour from here.)
Harrod's
Natural History Museum
Christ Church College (Oxford)
Shakespeare's Birthplace (Stratford)
Warwick Castle
Others I'm forgetting

Shows:
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Wow!)
The Lion King (Amazing)

Notable Food:
Fish & Chips from Harry Ramsdens in Piccadilly
Fish & Chips from the Laughing Halibut in Westminster
Sandwiches from Marks & Spencer
We ate at a few touristy spots that were not that great.

Students Favorite Thing: Sleeping and riding the underground

Things I'll Do when it's just the DW and me: National Gallery, Tate Modern, British Museum. (Kids just don't appreciate culture.) More shows, Hampsted Heath, St. James Palace, Kensington Palace...etc.

Next Visit: June 2005 with a 2 day side trip to Paris. I can't wait to show my DW "The City of Lights."

How old are the students? Just curious - my 16 year old daughter called me from Rome this afternoon. She is on a school trip with about 13 other kids. She told me that she, their professor and two other students climbed to the top of St. Peter's today....the other kids chose to go shopping instead?!?!? I am thrilled she got to go, but I will be very relieved when she gets back!

Sounds like you did get to do a lot. I loved the British Museum and the Tower.

Lucky you! I have always wanted to go to London as I teach british literature. The drama club here used to go every other year and I thought when DD#1 went I would chaperone--but since 9/11 our school board will not sanction any trip out of the country and the advisor won't go without that protection.

My trip was a non-school trip, and I had each participant sign a waiver of liability. It protected not only me but also the school district. Of course, there were no problems, but it's always best to ere on the side of caution.
