Can I have friends visit for the day at AKL? It would be 2 adults and a child. It would just be for the day. I've read that non-resort-guest parking is limited to 3 hrs. Is there any way to extend that? Also, can we sit by the pool? I'm less interested in actually swimming... the kids might, but us 4 adults will just be sitting around. :confused3

We visited friends at AKV in 2010. We took the bus from EPCOT to Kidani and stayed for about 5 hours. Took the bus to DTD, had a snack and then went back to POR where we were staying.

Sorry, I don't know parking time limits.

Yes.

They can pay for Valet Parking and stay for the whole day.

Yes.

Any kids that are not guests of AKL are not allowed to swim. However, you can ask the lifeguards if it's okay. If it's not crowded, they may say okay. Just know that officially, non-guests are not allowed to swim.

I just have them come over.
I've never had them stop me at the pool.

My brother in law has his brother and family up one day as they live in south FL and we all sit around the pool area all day and the kids and some of the adults swim when kids are in. we have never had a problem. we get a parking pass when we check in and my DBL takes it out to them when they call and say they pulling in resort.

You should be fine doing this at AKL. There is a blanket policy in effect, but it's really designed to keep people from parking at the monorail resorts in order to avoid paying for the parking lot - thereby clogging up all the spots and making it hard for the people staying there to park their cars....or parking at the Epcot resorts for the same reason.
Or to prevent people from just wandering in to Storm Along Bay at Beach Club and overcrowding that pool, which creates unhappy beach club/yacht club guests (they will actually require you to show your room key and issue a wrist band for SAB...but that's the only pool I know of that does that).
AKL is removed from the parks and they have two really big pools, I've stayed there a few times (I own at Kidani) and I've never seen the pool really crowded.

Storm Along Bay requires a wristband at all times to identify resort guests. At other resorts, depending on time of year (basically crowd levels) the lifeguards at any resort pool may ask for resort IDs of those in the pool area - it even happens at POP. If your trip is off-season, this is most likely a non-issue; if you will be there at the holidays or other peak time, expect that your guests very well may be denied access to the pool and have a plan B in mind for the day.

This thread is closed. Please see our Using Pools at Other Resorts FAQ for further information and discussion.

Disney's policy, as posted on their website and at the resorts, is that the pools are only for registered guests of the resort. You may ask the lifeguard for permission to bring guests, if the pool is not crowded, they may allow it, but it's their decision.
