Having difficulty understanding the park hours

Hi,

We are going to Disney World this winter for new years day. It is our fourth time in Disney but we always went during the summer time. We are looking to start planning our trip but we dont understand the park hours...like on the first of january, the park hours for Hollywood studios is from 9 am to 8 pm...but there is a Fantasmic show at 8:30 pm and one more at 10:30 pm. How is it possible???

Also, we would like to know about the fireworks at Epcot on the 31 of decembre, they are at 11:40 pm....but do they include the illuminations fireworks also???

Right now it looks like HS closes at 8 that night and it's very common to have F! after the park closes. The rides will be closed but shops are always open for another hour after close. Disney often updates their hours a couple of months before and it looks like they've updated the 2nd F! but not the hours yet. Josh from easywdw says he thinks it will be open till 10 that day.

When F! is after close, the show will still run as normal. Upon park close all the attractions will refuse entry to the lines, but you will have the option of entering the F! amphitheater (space permitting). Once the show ends everyone will be directed to teh exit of the park.

This is the same when Illuminations runs at 9:00 and the park closes at 9. The attractions close, but the show will run, then everyone leaves (or shops of course as they are not going to toss out potential spenders!).

The only thing I can figure is HS hours are incorrect,or all attractions will likely and be close at 8 and wiii only do Fantasmic shows.I think that is unlikely and correct hours will be updated. Yes you will see Illuminations and spectacular fireworks display to bring in the New year.Other board members may give you more exact advice.

Show like Fantasmic! can be scheduled to begin at or after Park closing time.

Makes for added 'fun' when everyone is leaving at the same time.

They add hours and events every month (every single month) and have done so for many years.

They don't add EVERY day/night, but they will surely add more on and near holiday dates.

Just keep checking the calendar.

Illuminations on NYE is a special show with an added ending. Usually the show is held twice on that night at 6:00 and 11:40.

Thanks this is very helpful. I have a reservation for a breakfast at 7:30 but the park does not open until 9 that day. I was wondering if they were going to extend the hours of that park and it sounds like that is likely. Does anyone know if they extend restaurants randomly (ie. open earlier slots past the 180 day mark) if they suspect attendance to be higher? Just wondering. I am new to the all this planning and it seems things are more fluid than I realized.
