Having a heck of a time with AK strategy

Call me indecisive if you will, but I can not figure out how to schedule our AK day. We will be there on a sunday, with EMH. This will be May 25th.

Four years ago, the kids and I were bummed out we couldn't ride EE twice, so I am making sure we get to that this time by doing RD and scheduling FP+ for the park that afternoon. We're not PH till later when we go to MK EMH.

I just can't decide if it's a better idea to head straight to Safari and ride first thing, or if we should do EE first, one or two times, and then head to Safari. We do plan to do Dinosaur as our third ride. We have a 12:30 ADR at Yak & Yeti.

I just don't know which one is more popular..Safari or EE? or are they equally popular? What's a better RD strategy for AK? My only concern is that if we do Safari first, then EE will be backed up like crazy.

If you can get there for RD then EE first and probably 2nd, then over to Safari, then you can even get back to EE and ride single line. We were just there and the single line had no one in it and it was 2pm. Walked right on, there was a family of 4 that did the same and 3 got on same ride, 4th next ride. If you dont mind single rider, I think that is the best way.

Awesome! We'll try this!

Thanks!

Eta: interesting that he says safari first.

I think he says that because of how EE works. People tend to head to it, and then run to the safari. If you do the safari first, then by the time you get to EE that first wave of early riders has ridden and moved on.

If you look through the blogs on EasyWDW he has one where he follows his plan and shows with photos how it works.

We were there last week and were there at the front of the line at Rope Drop. Rode Everest twice in a row...half the cars were empty since we were so early. Hit Dinosaur right after and then hoofed it over to the safari. Could have done Dinosaur later, but that plan worked well for us and we didn't wait. Saw all the animals...did ITTBAB and booked out of there by 11.

I'm confused - you're getting FP for EE and Dinosaur but what else? Are you aiming to go on the Safari twice (once standby and once FP)?

Safari is a 20 minute ride that is a significant amount of time in the precious first golden hour - I think I'd aim for EE first once or twice and then safari or FP Safari for later on.

IME, the safari line builds faster. Pretty much everyone who comes into the park can ride the safari (and the ride choices for little kids are very limited at AK) but EE has a smaller pool of people.
Also, if you do end up standing in line, EE is a better line to be stuck in, IMO. The safari line is painfully boring. At least you can see some interesting stuff in the EE line if one builds up.

ETA: as PP mentioned, you could always FP+ the safari; I just wouldn't try to ride it stand-by unless it is first thing in the morning

Yes. We are planning this :-) we will probably FP safari, ee and dinosaur. Or safari, KRR and dinosaur. Those will be in the afternoon. I really want to make good use of our AK day because we got so little of it last time.

This sounds great!

Before this new FP system we always hopped and hit AK for rope drop, FP Kilimanjaro, ride Everest twice, then Kali River many times and back to Kilimanjaro... then enjoy the early day and dry off! We did Kali over 12 times one morning...chilly yes, wet yes, wakes us up better than coffee! YMMV

Have fun,
