Having a hard time understanding the new Hagrid's VQ system

I asked the same question of him in an earlier thread. He said he didn't get in line because he refuses to wait in any line longer than 30 minutes.

Ah~ okay, that makes more sense. I thought he got in line, waited an hour but once regular opening time arrived, they kicked him out of line and switched over to VQ. Makes me feel better that I can go during EE and get on ride, if I'm willing to wait.

Thanks for the reply!

That's what I thought too, and I wanted to be sure so we could make decisions about whether to get in line on our upcoming trip.

We rode once during EE on our June trip. Then we got in line later in the day and it stopped when it started raining. We ended up having to bail after sitting there for an hour. So we really want to be sure and ride again when we go back.

When they switch to VQ those already in line remain in line. Even with VQ you should expect to typically wait at least 30 minutes once you are back in line.

Thanks for the clarification! I definitely plan to join standby line during EE to make sure we get to ride it, in case we have a hard time snatching the VQ time slots. I'm willing to wait however long it takes to ride it during EE so 30 minutes with VQ is no problem for us. Thanks again!

The ride also doesn't always switch over to VQ. When I was just there on 12/4 & 12/5, the VQ was only in use on Saturday (I road twice using VQ) and it was standby all of Sunday.

I was there 12/4 Saturday and around noon I saw the VQ sign and set up my account then (1st trip to UOR in 5 yrs). I got a time about 2 hours away but it was too close to Grinchmas show time. I was easily able to move my time another hour later. They kept updating my time since the ride ran smoothly and the return time changed a little. Make sure you don't close your browser while waiting those hours. I checked in, they tapped the QR code, I got a free locker and got in line. I waited about 30 to 40 minutes in the line. That was my first time doing that and I was pleased it went so smoothly.

I checked VQ all week and never saw it available. My kids made it to the front of the line today at rope drop but we were in line at 7:15am and then they literally ran after getting through the gate.
