I love Christmas decorating, but we don't get a tree. DF said "no tree until we have kids and they are five years old" don't know where he came up with that? He says the dog will pee on it

I made him compromise: no tree until we have kids.

If all goes according to plan, maybe next year we will have a tree!

I have to say I feel bad for you guys cuz you are my friends BUT welcome to my life the last 8 years with Bush the bobo head. Bush has been one of the worst presidents ever ....

While I think McCain was gracious last night he didnt run a gracious campaign at all and his supporters booed last night everytime he said Obamas name.
He didnt really do enough to stop people in his party from insinuating that Obama was an Arab a muslim a terrorist among other things. That will make it harder to have the country come together. I mean McCains peeps are throwing Palin under the bus now and trashing her to everyone. I dont like Sarah but damn. I dont think McCain ran the campaign he wanted at all I think he was bullied by the far right of the republican party to get out the base but in the process he lost the middle.

Sorry but I love Obama and I have hope for the first time in 8 years!! I believe in CHANGE and I believe in OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you don't mind me giving my 2 cents ......but you will LOVE the Tahoe . I love my Yukon......although it's a GMC they're pretty much the same truck....but very roomy and extra seating with that third row seat......plus the butt warmers (as I call them) are GREAT . I think you would be very happy with one . The Acadia's are nice, too .

Not at all I welcome the input- more ammo when I go to DH to figure out what we're getting! If it was up to him we'd never get a new car....
The Yukon is great,too. We actually saw the Acadia in the showroom at the end of Test Track and DD and I loved it!

I am doing a major happy dance! First I find out that DH gets his health insurance at his new job on Dec 1, not Jan 1st, like I thought! No more cobra for me! Then you know I go in and check my flights every so often and what do I find??? My flight down in December went down to $59! I thought those days were over! DH said...see Obama is having an effect already! He was kidding but I will take it!!! Now I have a $90 credit and a free one way for SW!!! I am having a very good night!!!

I had the day off today and went to the eye doctor...I've been having more and more trouble reading things close to my eyes....it happened so quickly too...
Anyway I was told i have a touch of Astigmatism and using the computer at work all day really strains my eyes soooooo

I have no insurance for eyeglasses and was a bit surprised about the cost.
They showed me a pair of frames that was $800!!! I didnt get that one but i will say it fit really nice and looked good.
I pointed to one pair to try on and before i could say anything the girl behind the counter said "those are old man frames, pass"

Im curious if anyone has had to pay for thier glasses and what it cost.

Well....do you have Costco near?? We don't have optical insurance so we pay oop for glasses....and contacts. Costco has the best deal and they are actually very highly rated as far as getting everything done correctly for customers. We have never paid more than $350...and that was expensive IMO - Usually you can get nice eye glasses at Costco for about $125/150 range.

NO WAY should you have to pay $800!! That is ridiculous. I think even at Lense Crafters...we paid at most $350 or so. And that was designer with all the bells and whistles.

Good luck!!!! I'd definitely confidently say...even if not Costco...you should be in the $200 to $300 range at any other place....any more than that and you are being totally taken. We all have astigmatisms....so I am accounting for that, too.

OK...M&P i wear glasses and have 3 pairs......I do have insurance but I do know what they run. The most I have paid for frames (reg price) is about 200 for Coach frames and my lenses(which are single/not bifocals) and they run about 150 so about 300-400 total...hope that helps....and I dont like Lenscrafters or any of the chain gangs...

marvel: I agree with channing: glasses should be way cheaper than 800! I usually wear contacts but I do hve glasses as backup. mine were about 200. I also have astigmatism.

sibohan: wtg on the airfare! our outgoing flight has dropped another 15 today, bringing it to 25 a piece! now waiting for the return flight to go down too!

channing: thnks so much for the sw tutorial you gave a while ago. I wold have never known how to rebook and save on my own! so far I have saved us 50 and my parents 45!

The Yukon is great,too. We actually saw the Acadia in the showroom at the end of Test Track and DD and I loved it!

It's actually the opposite here.....DH keeps telling me to go get a new Yukon......but I'm perfectly happy with mine so I'm sticking with it . I'm constantly given a hard time because there has never been any eating or drinking of pop allowed in my truck.......only water....and never food . Yes....I'm a freak.....but I can't help it . DH and the boys think I'm a total nut case but they deal with it . The Yukons and Tahoes are great for the room . But the Acadia is a nice SUV too . New vehicles are fun......good luck choosing one and have fun looking at everything and test driving .

Great deal on the health insurance !!!! And WTG on the SWA credit . I can't believe your fare went down to $59 .......that's unheard of now.......but I guess if you're in the right place at the right time, anything is possible....and it sounds like you were . Time to start thinking of another trip to use that credit .

Marvel Dh just got a new pair Friday, we have awesome insurance and all he paid was $70 for the exam, lenses, and frames, oh and warranty that replaces them no matter what!! He got the frames that were in the medium price range and were not cheapest, the thing that ran up our cost was the fact that his eyes are so bad the lenses that are covered would have been like coke bottles so we paid for the upgrade thin lenses..... other wise it would have cost us only $10!

Before we had the good eye plan DH paid about 300 for his glasses (nice light frames) and transition lenses and I paid only about 100, but i did get cheaper once since i only use them to read when my eyes fatigue or when i want to look smart. Actually I don't think they work on me so i have began to buy the cute reading glasses from cvs and they work much better and are cuter, i have to have them when i am in a choir so i like to coordinate my glasses to my outfit!

I would totally check out costco, our walmart here is really good too! My dad and my sister could go anyplace they want to b/c they have the $$ but they love the optician at our walmart...of course ymmv! I have been waiting for a chance to use that one!

ETA: Your in NY, of course they were crazy $$$! LOL!

Back from taking DS to school and now enjoying my coffee .


Something hit me last night that made me start thinking about Christmas . I actually said it may be time to start getting the Christmas stuff out and DS looked at me like I was nuts . I guess with Thanksgiving just 3 weeks from today, Christmas is getting closer by the minute . Kelly.....didn't you get Christmas lights out last weekend???? I thought somebody did . As much as I'm NOT ready.....I think I'm starting to cave .

So 300 to 400 is for lenses and frames only?

I should have said that the frames which cost almost $800 were made with some gold. And i do have to say they looked great and felt great.

Anyway I was shown frames from 200 to 800. The 200 were laughable.

I liked a pair of frames in the $400s which is crazy but ...
Then there is the cost of the lenses which i forget but think were near $200
Then i'd want a warranty
And i also priced the product Crizal which is supposed to help with scratches, and glare
The total im getting is $850 which then includes a second pair.
I think the Crizal and warranty is adding $200.

My boss is supposed to pay (he doesn't want to pay for eye insurance but says he'll pay any bills i get) But i was curious what everyone pays.
