Having a friend spend the night w/o linking Magic Bands?

Well, you learn something new every day. I had no idea that hotel occupancy of four was based on two adults and two children and that the 3rd and 4th adult pay an extra fee. I had to Google this and found out that it's not just a Disney thing.

Mmm, should we expect Disney to get rid of that fee, then, since it's not "industry standard"? :rotfl2:

I agree.

No reason to add her before the OP is sure that her friend is showing up. Certainly no reason to split the reservations.
My thought about splitting the reservation was to avoid being charged the extra fee for three adults (OP, friend, sister) by making it clear that only two would be there on a given night.

I will definitely keep that in mind when I figure out who is coming when. I wouldn't mind paying for my friend's parking at the resort but I sure don't want to pay for parking AND the extra adult fee when there is no extra adult in the room.

In fact, if you are searching for hotel rooms, you will sometimes see that a single occupancy is less per night than a double occupancy, which is interesting. I've come across that every so often, because when I travel solo, I typically book the room as double occupancy as a security measure and will put in one person first just to see if the rate is different. My sister works in the hotel industry, and she said it's because they figure a solo traveler will use less utilities and services than a couple or family. I suppose that could be true, but it would depend on the person/couple/family.
