At the end of August. I am going to WDW for 6 nights. It is the longest we have ever gone. We arrive around 1pm at MCO..so we have a 1/2 day. 5 full days and then we have the morning of the 7th day. The longest I have ever gone was for 4 full days.
But, here is the thing. I am already stressing about having to come home and thinking it won't be long enough. I read about all of these people going for 10 nights and thinking that would be perfect. My wife and parents think I am crazy. The only people who wouldn't think I am crazy is my kids...who, since this is a surprise trip...I can't tell them. And the people on this forum. Don't get me wrong. I am very grateful I am going and that most people would be thrilled to go for 6 nights. I don't know what it is about Disney. I just really enjoy going. I took my older DD's last November for 4 days(wife stayed home with baby). So it hasn't even been a year.
I guess I am just a Disney-nut. :confused3

Yeah, I know how you feel. I'm planning to go on July 15th, havn't booked tickets yet. I always plan to 3 months ahead, but usually end up buying 2 weeks before trip....but anyhow I stress about the return flight too. My GF and I actually planned to go July 8th, but pushed it back a week so we still could make that feeling of anticipation last a little longer pirate:

Being from Seattle, we usually plan a week long trip to Florida. We start the trip out with a weekend at WDW, and finish the week doing other Florida activites (ie. beaches, Key West...etc). This way we even though we end our Disney experience early in the trip, we still are able to have a fun vacation and the memory of Disney isn't so fresh on the return flight.

Having said that, I still have post-vacation depression :)

I know how you feel...we usually go for 8 nights and next April we can only go for 7 nights and already I feel "cheated". :) I planned our up-coming trip in august for 9 nights at 3 different resorts and I think that will be just right for us.

(I have these horrible recoocuring dreams where it's the last day of our vacation and we are waiting for the porter to come get our bags so we can get to the airport - and we realize that we have been in our room the entire vacation and we haven't done a thing! :o )

This trip we will have 8 full days and we hope to get to both water parks and maybe even Sea World. DH made sure that I made dinner reservations every night - and we have the kids (6 & 10 - big Disney veterans) in day care 2 nights (for 2 hours) so we can have a couple of adult dinners. We go 2x a year and this is the best planned trip so far.

It sounds as if your kids are still young and your DW may not think it's easy/fun to stay for so long?? Maybe she'll come around in the future and you can stay longer - have her read the DIS and we'll brainwash, er, get her to change her mind! :)

I totally understand, we leave, a week from today, actually, hopefully we will be in the air for 12 minutes this time next week :) but I am already sad we will be coming home. It is just never enough time for me. That said, we have never gone in the heat of the summer so this is going to be a whole new experience for us. I might be ready to come home, but I doubt it. ;)

I think you should go for 10 days. Do you have the free dining plan? I think it would be worth it. The tickets wouldn't be that much more than what you already have if you bought the MYW tickets. I think 10 days would be perfect. That way you could go to the parks in the morning and when it starts to get too hot or crowded you could go back to the hotel and enjoy the pool! This is going to be my plan when I go next time. Since the tickets are a better deal the more days you buy I wouldn't feel like I was wasting my money by not being in the parks the whole time!
