Haven't flown Delta lately..how does it compare to United?

So looking at flight costs, it is about 200.00 more total to fly Delta vs. United. United worked fine for us last year but I haven't flown Delta in awhile so if it is a smoother flight, more reliable (we travel in February) that might make the 200.00 worth it. Also, do they provide in air TV?

I'm a Delta faithful but its unlikely that you'll see a $200 difference in flight quality between them and United.

On Delta, some flights have seat back TVs (everyone has a personal screen), some have "shared" ones hanging down every 5-10 rows, and others don't have anything. I agree with it probably not being worth $200.

unless you are flying business . I would not fly it. Delta is not good at all. Virgin is where the money is at. And I went past the business seats and they do not always. Sometimes they do in economy. But its not worth 200 dollars.

BUT - I would choose based on schedule and staying off the commuter/subsidiary carriers (United Express, Delta Connection, American Eagle). Winter weather can impact any and all airlines. If it's a connecting flight, I'd look at the connecting airports. All things being equal, I don't think any one "brand" is worth $200 more than another.

Point taken. I should clarify: the major US carriers I have access to (Delta/AA/United/SW).

I've had good luck with Delta. Haven't flown United lately. I don't think the smooth flight is really controlled by the airline, it's weather conditions at the time and partly where you are sitting.

I loved V Australia admittenly I was in premium eco but that was great

I no longer have to fly for business, but when I did have to fly, I used Delta whenever possible. I'm 6'2" and Delta seemed to have more leg room in Economy than the other carriers did.

I flew on mostly MD-80s/88s/90s, and they didn't have in air TV. I did fly on a 757 once, and they did have the overhead TVs but nothing was showing on them (too short a flight for a movie or TV.)

If you take a look at www.seatguru.com, they have all the amenities listed by airline and type of aircraft.

LOL... I often think Greyhound bus is superior to Alleigant (haven't ever flown Spirit)

I fly Delta all the time and they are fine, but probably United will be too. The truth is on most of the major carriers you will be fine. Now that said, any and all of them, can and will have a bad day. If I had stormed off saying "I will never fly again" after delays due to weather, mechanical, etc.., rude employees, seat changes or "crisis du jour" I would have to walk since I have had some wild experiences on just about every American based carrier (except Spirit, I have avoided that fiasco by refusing to fly them!) If you are looking for the airline that has never had a complaint for a flight to Orlando, you won't be flying to Orlando

(And the "top rated" one of Alaska gets one of my all time horror stories, it was bad enough that if the other choices are close I just don't bother with them again. I will still fly them but... I would rather not deal with little "ms arrogant" who worked at the airport I used. LOL! )

Just a "plus one" for @OrangeCountyCommuter's comments above.

I'm Platinum on DL and my experiences have been very good. But yes, there is always the occasional curve ball. I know several people who fly United (and American) regularly - its more a function of their home airport dominant carrier - who have had similar experiences. You'll likely not notice a difference between the Major Carriers.
