So heading to Disney for 6 nights and thinking of popping over to Sea World for a day. It will be just myself and my 12 year old son, who loves sealions! Is this a park to spend just one day? Is that enough, I know with the ticket it comes with an additonal day. Just curious as I havent been there in so long, I'm sure it changed alot! Is there any day better than others do go? Was looking at 4/16 - a Monday.

Thanks

Monday is traditionally the slowest day of the week so that should be perfect. A lot has changed in 25 years. There is so much to do now and there is more than enough for one day, even two. Here are some don't miss shows and exhibits....

1) Manta Roller Coaster.... If you and your son love rides then this lay down roller coaster will be perfect for you. One of the best in Florida in my opinion.

2) "Blue Horizons" Dolphin Show

3) Dolphin Feeding.... For a small fee, you can feed the dolphins. Be sure to get to the park at park opening at 9:00am if you want to do so. Dolphin feeding is very popular and gets more crowded as the day goes on. The first feeding is 9:30am and is usually the best feeding of the day because the dolphins are the hungriest.

4) The Shamu Show "One Ocean"

5) Journey To Atlantis.... A water ride like Splash Mountain at Disney

6) Kraken.... Another great roller coaster

7) Pacific Point Preserve.... An exhibit where you can feed Sealions

8) Turtle Trek.... This brand new exhibit that will open this coming Spring will feature a 3D movie and a brand new Turtle and Manatee exhibit.

9) Clyde And Seamore Take Pirate Island.... The parks Sealion, Otter and Walrus Show.

10) Wild Arctic.... A motion simulator ride that simulates your trip to the arctic on a helicopter.

There is so much more to see and do, those are just the "Must Do's"

If your son loves Sealions, then something that could be perfect for you would be the Sealions up close tour. Here is more information about the tour....

Any more questions, feel free to ask! :)

That's a good list of the main headline attractions, there are other shows like the Alure call of the ocean Cirque style show at the Nautilus theater, the Pets Ahoy show, the sharks walk through exhibit.Right now the penguin attraction is closed as they're making a new Antarctica themed area with a major new ride and new penguin exhibit. You could do most or all of the attractions in one day (as long as it's not too busy) if you get there at opening and plan your day well.Since the showtimes for the shows are at different times throughout the day when you get to the park pick up a park map and plan your day out with what times you plan to see each show, what times you plan to do the rides, leaving time for eating and the walk through attractions. Also the skytower is now free for everyone to ride so there you have another attraction to think about. If you however can do a second day that would be better as this is a very nice relaxing park and not having to do the park commando style would be a plus.

It's been almost 25 yrs since our last visit to SW, and the grandchildren have never been. We'll be at WDW in mid Sept & are thinking of going to SW for one day. There'll be 3 kids: almost 2, 10, and almost 14. I'm concerned that with all the shows to see, there won't be enough time to do the rides & other attractions in 1 day.....especially since we'll have the toddler.

September is typically a slow month. So you shouldn't have a problem doing all that you want to especially since crowd size will be so low. If you want to do it all, the best way to attack the day is to plan around show times. Plan to visit exhibits around the show stadiums. For example, if you want to see the 10:00am Dolphin show, then plan to do exhibits around the dolphin show stadium from 9:00am until 9:45am and then again following the show from 10:30am-11:30am and then move on to the next show stadium.

Each show is between 20-30 minutes long. No more and typically no less. You can start planning now. February is a slow month and is comparable to September. Though the show times for September aren't out yet, they could be compared to show times in February. Here are the current show times which may be similar in September....

Blue Horizons
10:00, 1:30, 3:00

Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island
11:00, 1:45, 4:45

One Ocean
12:00, 5:30

Pets Ahoy
10:45, 1:45, 3:15, 4:45

A'Lure, The Call of the Ocean
1:00, 3:30

I would go with the....
10:00 Blue Horizons Dolphin show
1:45 Clyde And Seamore Take Pirate Island Sealion show
3:15 Pets Ahoy Dog and Cat show
5:30 One Ocean Shamu Show

I don't really recommend A'lure. It's an acrobatics show. I'm really not into that stuff so I typically avoid it. Its a good show though if you choose to see it.

Next question, I will be taking a taxi from the VWL, lets say gates open at 9:00am, what time should we get picked up to head over, 7:30?? I will buy the tickets online so we will have them already.
