And I'm planning a trip to USf and am asking for advice!

My son and I used to go 4 -5 times a year but haven't gone since 2003... which is sooooo weird for us!

I would LOVE to get in a nutshell what's been going on new there from those in the know! Wow, I remember when I USED to be one of those people! I still have "sticky's" on this page!! What is UP wiTHAT????

Thanks in advance for the BEST deals and the best ideas about what's NEW at USF!!

hmm, i have to think back to when shrek/mummy and some others came to be.

i go yearly and can't remember the dates the newer rides began.

nickelodean is no longer there as it was years ago. even the fountain that slime came out of is gone.

what part of the year are you going?
there are hard ticket events that happen through out the year.

Robin, I can't help you with your question, but I wanted to welcome you back. I wondered where the heck you were..I haven't seen you on the disney boards..or have I been looking in all the wrong places LOL?
Doris

Hi, Doris and thanks for the welcome!

I actually have only been on the CB, no trips planned so I just came on to get some laughs.

Macraven, I had no idea Nickelodeon was gone! That's how out of touch I am! The latest "new" ride that was there when I was there last was Shrek. I've never even seen the Mummy!

We're going in April during his spring break, probably staying at the Hard Rock.

Who are you?

Okay, what do you want to know? I'm still there.

Well Shrek now has TWO theatres. And you MUST try the Mummy! There is also Fear Factor.

Do come back soon and be sure to say "hi!"

Welcome back and you have tons of stuff to read - so get busy!

LOL, FeeFee, boy do I have a LOT to read!

Shrek has TWO theatres now.... man am I behind! Michael is dying to find out about Fear Factor, I think I could skip that... :crazy2:

As a former AP holder I feel weird asking this but what are the best deals on tickets? I called the Hard Rock and they're offering LOS tickets for the more than a 4 night stay, which I plan to do now, but since I'm sure I'm not going anymore this year it might be the best deal.

I guess I'd better get back to reading!

robinrs..........do come back for the mummy.......it's kewl

i priced out that promo after someone mentioned it on the boards and you can do better by buying the tickets separate and do a room only.

go to the on line store for the present promos of 5 day pass for $99.
if your child is 9 or under you can buy the one adult ticket for 2 parks for 5 days (with the bonus) and get one child ticket free.

you can buy the ap or AAA for the discounts. it looks like the aph will be a sweeter deal than aaa. discount prices for ap have just been released thru may.

or you might be interested in the stay and play deal. check it out on the rcicommunity.com or on universal.

also check for room and different packages through orangevacations.com and hotelkingdom.com
if you have aaa, their travel agents will do all the work for you if you book through them.

i always do my own bookings, it's half the fun of the vacation for me.

fear factory i did not do on my fall trip. no time for it when i was there.

check out some of the threads on the best tickets for you.

come back soon. we'll yak about universal

robinrs, if you plan to stay for 5 nights, go to universal orlando.com and click on the mc logo.

you can book this special if you have any master card.
stay 4 nights, get a 5th night free at on site hotel or the holiday inn.

i haven't looked at it lately but there might be a ticket package with it.

I just wanted to post and say that it's good to see you here again. I've seen you occasionally on the CB though. Welcome back to one of the nicest, most helpful people on the DIS!

As I'm still an AP holder, I can't help much with regard to daily ticket prices, sorry.

Actually, Michael is pointing you in the right direction. I'm not a fan of the TV show Fear Factor myself (I usually cringe when my husband and/or sons watch) but the Universal show is very entertaining. If you get there early enough and can sit somewhere toward the front, there's a chance that your son might get picked to help with the show. They choose several kids to operate some equipment that makes FF tasks more "interesting" for the actual contestants. (Nothing at all gross or dangerous. My son got picked last summer.)

Revenge of the Mummy is awesome. You'll both love it. There are quite a few threads that give lots of Mummy info. I know you'll be staying at HRH so you'll have FOTL, but try to go through the queue at least once. There are several interactivities that I'm sure your son would enjoy.

Also, check out some of the current threads on the All You Can Eat Pass. It's great for teenage boys! We didn't purchase it for ourselves but my older son just loved being able to go to the counter and get as much as he wanted.

Motown Cafe is gone from CityWalk and construction is continuing on Bubba Gump's at its former location.

OmG, am I dreaming??? You're still around???? PM me your number girl, we've GOTTA talk!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Wow, thanks for all the website info, macraven! I'll be busy tonight!

AYCE Pass, Figment???? That's right up my alley since my son just turned 13 and I need a LOAN to feed him! Going studying!
:moped:

ROBINRS!!!!!!!!!!

Long time no see!! :cool1:

I dont hang out at this site as much as I used to, we only hit USF once a year. The kids are growing up and going in too many directions!!

We just got back from the HRH, we were there last weekend. I dont think things are quite the same with the new General Manager, but its still my favorite place to be.

Patty

Hi, Patty!

I am thinking of the Hard Rock because it was our FIRST onsite hotel and since we've done the gamut of all three we're starting from the beginning. Of course, the RP will ALWAYS be my favorite!

The prices are incredible, though! They're not even giving the kind of discounts we used to get for being Georgia residents anymore! So much for those good ol' prices from the good old days... sigh...
:confused3

Remember the good old days???

$99 at the HRH!!

I dont think we'll ever see that again.

Patty

Robin, remember when everyone had the hots for you? Oh, that crazy tag fairy!!!

:rotfl2: Boy do I!!! It was actually SCAREEEEE!!!

Patty, I remember paying $99 for the Hard Rock and $129 for the Royal Pacific. Now the quotes I'm getting is making me want to commute! :confused3

No kidding, we just paid $263 for club

No wonder I work 2 jobs!!

I still love USF, but each trip I spend less time at the parks and more time at the pool/cabana, I must be getting old. Dont get me wrong, I still rode the Hulk, Dueling Dragons and the Mummy, I am not getting that old, LOL. But I would love to just go for a week and chill (or sweat) by the pool!!

Patty

Yeah Robinrs, your back. I guess from looking at my tags I still have the hots for you. I'm glad your back and hopefully I'll see you at Universal soon.
