We have ADRs for Captain Grille at lunc and I would really like to get the crab cakes as a meal and see that listed on the dinner menu. Does anyone know if you are allowed to order off the dinner menu for lunch?

1) Eateries typically do not serve dinner items at lunch.
. . . if you are on DDP, they do not make enough profit serving dinner stuff at lunch
. . . frequently those items need to be setup on-the-line in the back for the meal time
. . . if an appy, like these, they probably are ready to be served yet
2) Although there have been exceptions, those are few and far between.

There are exceptions, but generally it is harder to get dinner items at lunch , alot has to do with food prep stations etc.You can always ask, but I would have a backup in case

As I recall, there's a crab cake appetizer so, if you're not on the DDP, maybe you could put together some kind of meal by ordering that and some sides.

PP's are correct. Most of the time you cannot order off the dinner menu at lunch. The kitchen just isn't set up for it, or the food isn't prepped yet.

The other way around, ordering lunch at dinner time happens more but I would also suggest you have a back up you really want, would hate to see you disappointed.

It's an appetizer on the lunch menu so you could order it, but whether they can convert it into an entrée with all of the dinner sides, might not be possible. Also, as an appetizer it will have to be OOP if you're on the regular DDP.
