Hi there...

We have a week in a lock off available at Vacation Village at Parkway in mid-December and I wanted to put it up on DISauctions but it seems DISauctions is gone for good...:(

When one puts up such a thing on Ebay, would it be hard to sell. We only want $!%) (a little bit) for it but I am concerned because I have never sold on ebay...I only buy DISNEY and StarWars Items... I am also worried as I will be in the other portion of the condo and I don't want there to be a party there everynight.

Have you ever bought a week from an Individual? Did they meet you there with the keys? How did you hear about it? Did you like it?

If you sold your week, were you afraid that the person you sold it to would be a good tenant?

Does anyone on this board know if DISauctions will ever come back???

P.S. edited to not show price...

if this is an RCI week - they will if they catch you - close your account.

if this is a week you own.

then go join
www.tug.com
for $15 you can advertise there

you can across joint
www.redweek.com
when I last jointed it was $10 = I have heard the rate has gone up.

if you price it right - it will be rented.

you need to belong to tug if you own any timeshare.

also know that both RCI and II have entered the rental business.

Yes I know it gets alot of people upset.

RCI is an audition
II is their getaways priced a little higher for the general public.

If it is an RCI exchange and you are caught you not only lose your account, you will probably lose your exchange. Then you and the person you rent to will be out a vacation.

There has been much discussion on this very issue recently on TUG (you don't need to pay the membership fee to read about this).

It is common knowledge that RCI monitors TUG's rental board and bbs as well as ebay.

Just an FYI

if it is a skyauction,

then it is an rci exhange since they send you a gift certificate from skyauction issued by RCI

if the price you want is We only want $!%) and it was an skyauction win, it would be a deal for someone if you split the costs

two bedrooms at Vacation Village are going for anywhere from 243$ (low cost ) to 260$ ( average cost ) to 282$ ( high cost ) on RSG auctions during the last month

I wasn't aware that you are allowed to sell off a bedroom with a skyaucton win. Surely that is not the case:confused: That could turn into some kinda racket for those so inclined and for those who know nothing about skyauction. Sounds WRONG

skyauction is RCI - believe me - they will find out stop it and try to kept the bidder from ever using skyauction again.

you can give your skyauction away - but trying to sell it - and RCI finds out - forget ever using skyauction again.

I don't know if they would object if you only got what you put in to the contract or not?

Ok...This is not a moral issue. I was hoping to ask a member from the DIS to share cost for the week. This is a seperate one bedroom apartment with it's own door and it's own key.

I did not want to put it up on ebay because I thought DISauctions would be better because we KNOW Disers are usually good people...(I've met a large bunch of DISers and love them all up til now)

I figured that sharing the cost of the week would be nice for us because we only want about 1/2 what we paid on skyauction and this could help out a DISER and help us out too. It would be no different than if I asked my brother and his wife to come along and pay 1/2...

I read the agreement on Skyauction and it does not say anything about sharing the cost...It just says the condo has a MAXIMUM occupancy of 8...

The first week we have a DISer joining us and instead of her paying the cost of 1/2 of the condo, she is paying for MVMCP tickets for all of us, and a day at the water park...Is this WRONG also....??? Am I going to have the RCI police after me???

If Disauctions was up, I would just list and tell the person everything up front...I think this has gone a bit out of control. I know that I would have loved to get a 1 bedroom for $125 for a week on my first trip and meet a DISer also. It would have been great to get a nice place like this for less than I spent for a cheap motel on 192...

We went to CRT with DISers on our first trip and it was nice. I was hoping to help someone out with a place to stay at a very good price for a week and I thought we might even drive them to the parks if we went at the same time...

It's not just a money thing. I just thought it was a WIN-WIN situation but if this turns out being a big deal, it's not worth it. It just seems bad to have the whole 2nd apartment empty for that week when someone could use it.

We are not going to do this if everyone thinks it's wrong...Sorry I seem to have started a debate...It was not my intention.

If anyone know if DISauctions is coming back, please let me know as I was going to make some handmade DISNEY frabric covered photo albums and put them up for sale but that might be copyright infringement and may not be a good idea...

Sorry for all the trouble...:(

you could solve your problem by calling RCI .....

1-800-338-7777

see what their take is on the situation

they do have 7 conditions on the guest certificate we have for next month in Branson Missouri

final statement on the certificate says.....

Use of this guest certificate is subject to current RCI rules and regulations

Thats not wrong but it sounds like you are getting the better end of the deal.

I don't think we are getting the BETTER end of the deal...She was invited by us to join us for her 50th birthday for a week... She wanted to pay 1/2 of everything but we said no way was she paying on the condo because that was our gift to her.

I even found her an awesome deal for a flight...

We are driving, picking her up at the airport, we have a few surprises for her, she insisted on buying the MVMCP tickets because she has never been wants to go and she had a ton (over 15) extra plusses from previous trips on old Park Hoppers and asked if we would go with her to a water park because she has never been in all her visits...

She is a friend... A true friend who I am visiting in 2 weeks. 13 hours away from my house...I miss her very much.

I am also a photographer and I will give her doubles of all the pics I take so she does not have to carry her camera with her. I pay for all the film and the processing. We are also buying the groceries (staples for the fridge and breakfast) and driving her back to the airport...

As her friend, this is all a given...We have been friends since I met her through the DIS in 2001... Now I fell like we are taking advantage of her and will have to tell her I can't accept the tickets in good conscience...I better save more money for this trip now...

Weird how you can start a post to ask about DISauctions and by the end of the post people start to make you fell bad about yourself...It's too late, I'm better off going to bed... I guess in some people's eyes I just seem like a selfish person... Never thought I was before now.

PhotoBear.................I don't know anything about timeshares or the rules and regs. that go along with them. (I probably never will because my DH would never buy one) We have used Skyauction. As far as renting the one bedroom out, I would call RCI. Go right to the source. Just tell them you are not knowledgable in this area and you want to do the right thing. They will tell you. It's not like you are trying to "get one over" on them. You just thought you could help someone out. Let them give you an answer. I would think the good people on here that own timeshares would know the answer, so they might be right. Just check on it.

As far as your deal with your friend. Sounds fine to me. She might find a good deal on a hotel room for $50 a night, that's $350 for the week. And you are paying for a lot of little extras. But that isn't really important. As a friend, you are helping your friend out and your friend wants to help you out.

When we've helped some friends out before, they thought we shouldn't have paid for this or that, that it was too much. But friends don't keep a running talley to see if things are always even. That's not what a friend does. I make them dinner at my house, they take us for ice cream at a place around the corner. They find a cabin for us all to stay at in the mountains for the weekend, we bring all of the food. You know............just like your deal. It sounds like you are doing something nice for her, and she is doing something nice for you. Don't feel bad about that. This is between you and your friend. You seem like a nice person and you would not try to swindle anyone one. Don't worry about it.

Don't let this put a bad taste in your mouth. It was an innocent question. You, like me, had no idea that there might be a problem with this. Now, we know. Ok. So it's all in our "education", right?

:sunny: :wave2:

Sam--I don't think anyone was being mean or making a moral judgment. People were telling you it's against the rules to put the bedroom on auction at E-Bay and that RCI would catch you and you might lose your reservation. Kind of like when someone tells you not to speed because you're going through a small town that tickets everyone going over the limit.

Obviously a private transaction that goes under the radar isn't a problem but it sound like formally listing it on E-Bay or even Disauctions isn't a good idea.

I was not upset by the answers on the auction or RCI thing...That is why I asked my questions in the first place. I was not knowledgable in the area and thought DISers would know...

Now as Mom of Sleepy, Bashful and BabyDoc has said...It's our education, right?! This is why we ask questions...I have no problem with getting fair answers...

The problem I have is with Doesney saying
quote:Thats not wrong but it sounds like you are getting the better end of the deal.

I am a very nice person and this comment made me feel like a slimeball who takes advantage of her friends...I am not and can see that very clearly this morning as I was upset last night and could not sleep. This was just a bad way to end a very bad day yesterday...This morning I see it was not meant to be mean, just someone's personal opinion...

I wanted to call my DIS friend wenabre to talk it over but she's somewhere on a cross Atlantic cruise at the moment...

We were already supposed to be in Ottawa for a visit but we decided to wait till she got back to visit...She's a good friend who used to be in the NAVY as a nurse. DH's said not to worry, we were not taking advantage of her...She would tell us and she does not hold her tongue in any way...I feel better now but I would love to talk to her...She's been gone for 2 weeks and we ususally talk 3 times a week...I miss her.

As for the timeshare...I don't want it to be empty, so maybe I will go to the board that has helped me the most and GIVE it away....

Maybe not...Would that be wrong too...?

Too much for one day...

Don't worry, I'm back to carefree Samantha and I thank everyone who has given information on this thread...I was just being sensitive from lack of sleep...Now I'm back to normal...Thanks for helping out..::yes::
