Have you regretted not bringing your own stroller?

Would anyone venture whether or not a canopy is necessary on a stroller with a 5 y.o. in late April? Sunscreen is required, of course, but what about a canopy?

Well, my DD was out of a stroller by that age, but if yours still needs one, I think a pair of sunglasses and a hat or visor would probably suffice unless you hit some particulaly hot weather. Do you anticipate your child napping in the stroller? In that case, a canopy might be a good idea.

I have yet to go to WDW. I have no idea about these things. I've read about how 5, even 6 year olds sometimes conk out after a day of park rides and what-not. I have, in fact, seen that happen earlier this year in NYC on the streets. Hitting the pavement after a long day, she begged to be carried or to have a stroller. So, it's an insurance policy.

I take it you've had experience in the parks near the time that we're going (late April) and, if the canopy is not all that necessary, then I suspect we can just go with the limo's rental stroller. It's a Costco umbrella stroller type.

I don't know if she will or will not sleep in any stroller, but I know whenever she's exhausted, she likes to be carried.

I'm going back and forth between renting the cheapy Costco one from the limo service and bringing our own decent MacClaren.

I'm leaning toward renting it down there....

We have brought our own each year & I plan to continue to bring my own - it makes it easier in the airports and other places we visit as well as WDW. My girls are comfortable with their stroller and I know what it looks like. The only time we used WDW strollers was at Animal Kingdom on the other side of the safari (?) where they had strollers for everyone to use - the girls liked them but when they tried to lie down in them, it wasn;t very comfortable & we had to carry them.

KIS - I would still recommend bringing your own for all the reasons I gave on the first page of this thread.

As for needing a stroller, all kids are certainly different. Mine is quite the trooper and its usually me or my wife that is ready to collapse and be pushed around - LOL!

Actually, its kind of nice to have the stroller even if you never put the kid in it - you can use it to carry all your stuff. I actually know people who have rented a stroller without a kid for just that purpose.

thanks for sharing your opinion on the subject. I'm still sort of divided because my husband doesn't want to lug the thing around. The MacClaren's not leavy, but it's not a lightweight either.
