We are going to WDW in less than 48 hours (:cool1:) for the Star Wars Convention. We have three of us, and thankfully southwest allows us each one free bag. One of us is a 2 year old, but I'm going to back him a larger bag so I can fit water/juice boxes/applesauce/snacks/diapers for way down and then stuff it with star wars goodies on the way back.

I was thinking of backing the water bottles/juice boxes in zip lock bags and the clothes in zip lock bags in case one of the liquids breaks.

Any other suggestions?

1) please don't?
2) if you must, please double- or triple-bag any liquids
3) Southwest actually allows TWO free checked bags per ticketed passenger
4) WATCH THE WEIGHT!!! Each half-liter bottle of water weighs about a pound

Check with the airline to see what liquids you are permitted for him. You don't want to pack a bunch and then have security tell you you can't take it on.

Instead of bringing water bottles, how about getting a reusable water bottle with a filter? I know they sell them at HTO or Dick's Sporting Goods.

It would be so much easier to pack a Brita or Pur pitcher and filter the water as you need it. That's what we do. I can understand the desire to bring juiceboxes but as a PP requested, please triple-bag them.

We do this too - it's so much easier than managing the weight of water bottles (and greener too! :thumbsup2) We bring a CamelBak and just pour in the water for our day/half day if we're taking a mid-day break. Water stays cold from the fridge. The CamelBak we have serves as our daybag as well, so very convenient.

Also, we keep a pitcher of water ready for when we're back in the room. Only takes a couple of minutes!

We want to reduce our volume for a independent trip to Costa Rica so I just bought a Brita water purifier that attaches directly to the tap. Going on a road trip this weekend and testing out our latest idea at the hotel!

cheers,
:flower3:

I've done it if we have extra room in our suit case. I bubble wrap it and put it in a 2 ziplocs - never had a problem. Pack it between clothes so it's better protected. Then I have room for souveneirs on the way home:)

well, we are only going for three days, so I only needed 10 juice boxes and bought the small bottles of water and have ten of those. Pretty small considering so I'm just going to pack them.

It seems it would be easier to just bring a refillable water bottle. You can get free ice water at every park! :thumbsup2

As for the juice and applesauce, they do have that there, and it's not expensive. :rotfl2:

This is a great idea for your clothes, but what about all of the other luggage that will be in the cargo hold?

I took some of the small bottles with me in May on Southwest. I doubled them in ziplocs and packed them directly in the middle of the clothes. They arrived to WDW just fine. :thumbsup2

and so did my clothes.
