Has anyone ever heard of having an ebay auction that sells hope in a box or something that is really just for people to send donations? Why? SIL says her friend has seen this where the “buyer” just sends donations to help with something like raising money for a specific cause. I am going to look on ebay, but I have no clue what to look for.



Just wondering if someone has ever seen this or done this.

I've heard of that kind of auction, but not to donate the money to charity. From what I understand, you're bidding on what COULD be in your box. It's like a mystery box auction, I guess. Then at the end of the auction, you're sent a box, and you either have the fabulous prize or some crap prize. This type of auction just screams scam to me.
