Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

I didn't say charge him with attempted murder but there are charges such as tampering. Hoping his license was pulled. It's not his decision to make about whether or not what he dispenses is safe. His job is to inform and dispense, period.

I agree. If he feels what he is doing is harmful to people he needs to switch occupations. It was not his property to destroy.

I was perusing my county health department site and came across a form to fill out to request a vaccine. My phase was on it (1b-Adult who works in a school), so I figured what the heck and I filled it out. No idea how they are using it, but it says they will call when they have a vaccine for me? I had to put my contact info, employer, work phone number, teaching license number and an explanation of why I qualify to get a shot at this phase. I’m not holding my breath (our state is still on 1A), but it would be nice!
Thanks for posting this. I dug around on my county's website and they had a signup to keep updated on vaccine info if you're in Phase 1B (which my husband and in-laws are in). Also found one for the county my parents live in. Better than nothing!

DH got his 1st shot (Moderna) yesterday morning. He reports no side effects. Arm not really sore and feeling fine this morning.

Mom got hers on Wednesday morning also Moderna. She had a very sore arm and low grade fever by Wednesday night. She felt head achy and fluish yesterday. Nothing serious just blah. It’s still too early for me to check in with her today.

My city continues to get it out pretty quickly. They started vaccinating teachers (me) on 12/29. Yesterday all school crossing guards over 65 (most of them) were vaccinated.

The city health department had their first round of vaccinating those 65 and older without a doctor to schedule through this week. They did not do a first come first served line up like I’m seeing on the news. They set up a phone number and website for scheduling appointments. They closed it yesterday when all available were claimed but will open it back up as soon as they recieve more supply.

DH is a college administrator. He has been working with the hospital to get his 1b qualifying employees vaccinated. He sent the list of those qualified and wanting it last Sunday. They started scheduling this week and the first are being vaccinated today.

My hospital system has over 8000 employees and over 4000 have been vaccinated. With 500 more with upcoming appointments.

They will start going out to the ambulatory sites to vaccinate at those sites. You can only get appointments at the main hospital so it can be difficult for some people.

I kept my appt for today at 1:45 pm today after much back and forth. I’m just going to do it.

Our CEOs also sent out an email encouraging people to get The vaccine with links to educational resources so everyone can make an informed decision. They also stated to take advantage of these two vaccines being so effective (95%) because newer vaccines may not be as effective.

Here is Ohio the group with teachers will start to get vaccinated on Feb1. My mom is a teacher and will the vaccine as soon as she can. She is in a smaller county so it should be easier to distribute. My county is huge and will take some more time and much more planning.

I may be able to get the vaccine with teachers as well. My job works with high school and college students. Over half of my co-workers work in the high schools. I work with the college kids so most of my work is not face to face until summer comes. Our CEO is working with the health department to see if we qualify for this round. There is a possibility that we all have to wait or that only my co-workers in the schools will get it.

DH has his appointment today for shot #1 - super excited! I, however, probably won't be able to get mine until Phase 2, Group 2 (which are under 65 but have health conditions) and DH thinks in our area that may be late spring/early summer.

I'm working at home full time but since DH works in the hospital I'm just thankful he's getting it now!

We also go back to Disney in 41 days so he'll be able to have both shots by then - yeah! We're also bringing my adult cousin with us, and she just had COVID back in December, so her Dr thinks she'll have enough antibodies to keep her safe a few months..

Random side effect development for me from the first shot, not sure if anyone else has had this.... injection site randomly turned red and welted up again a couple days ago (a week after first shot), also slightly itchy and warm. This was after everything had already dissipated the first time. Everything has diminished again today. And of course this all happened after my final V-Safe check in lol.

So my governor came out today and said she's shifting the order around some..more so they are putting now those 65+ ahead of congregate settings. Both were and are still in Phase 2. This is the most defined order I've seen yet for my state and I so so so appreciate it being laid out this way because now I know that technically I'd be in Phase 4, my husband in Phase 5, depending on my sister-in-law's asthma she may be in Phase 4 with me (although her's is quite mild).

There are 5 phases and a,b,c, etc parts to it:

Phase 1:

• Health care workers
• Residents or patients in long-term care facilities and senior housing
• Workers critical to pandemic response continuity

*Phase 1 groups have already begun to receive vaccines

Phase 2:

• Persons aged 65 and older

• High-contact critical workers necessary to maintain systems, assets, and activities that are vital to the state security, the economy or public health, or who interact with large numbers of contacts and job-related COVID-19 exposure. COVID-19 risk is associated with the likelihood of infecting oneself or spreading the virus. Factors that increase risk include proximity, type of contact, duration of contacts and challenges to implement protective measures. This includes:
o Firefighters, police officers, first responders, and correction officers {Looks like this was a slight adjustment too to do it before inmates as a whole for correction officers, before it was described they would be more together}
o Grocery store workers and food services
o K-12 and childcare workers, including teachers, custodians, drivers, and other staff
o Food processing, including meat processing plants
o Large-scale aviation manufacturing plants
o Transportation workers
o Workers in retail, agriculture, supply of critical services or materials for COVID-19 response, the U.S. Postal Service, and Department of motor vehicles

• Those living or working in licensed congregate settings and other special care or congregate environments where social distancing is not possible, including:
o Homeless shelters
o Congregate childcare institutions
o Emergency shelters or safe houses
o Corrections facilities
o Behavioral health institutions

Phase 3:

• Those aged 16-64 with serious medical conditions that increase the risk for severe illness from COVID-19, including:
o Cancer
o Chronic kidney disease
o Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
o Down Syndrome
o Heart conditions like cardiomyopathies
o Immunocompromised state from solid organ transplant
o Type 2 diabetes
o Sickle cell disease
o Pregnant patients

• Other non-health care workers in critical infrastructure who cannot work remotely, including:
o Agricultural and food workers not included in previous phases
o Workers performing in-person activities indoors, in critical manufacturing, not included in previous phases. This includes aviation and production of critical supplies for the COVID response
o Utility workers
o Social service and government workers not included in previous phases
o Logistics workers, such as truck transportation workers, couriers and others
o Water and wastewater workers
o Shelter and housing workers, finance workers
o Information technology and communications workers

Phase 4:

• Those aged 16-64 with other medical conditions that increase the risk for severe illness from COVID-19 such as:
o Asthma
o Cerebrovascular disease
o Cystic Fibrosis
o Immunocompromised state from blood or bone marrow transplant, immune deficiencies, or use of immune weakening medicines
o Neurologic conditions such as dementia
o Liver disease
o Pulmonary fibrosis
o Type 1 diabetes
o Obesity and severe obesity

Phase 5:

• The rest of the population 16 and older
• Potentially children, dependent upon further research on the effectiveness and risks associated with vaccinating kids

**A few of these occupations were touched on in my county's podcast the other day in terms of saying where they would be like teachers, grocery store workers, postal workers, etc.

My coworker who had a mild case of covid (sore throat and loss of taste and smell) in November had her first vaccine yesterday. She said she feels like crap. Way worse than when she had it. Body aches, chills, headache but no fever. This is why I scheduled mine for a Friday. Since I had covid I’m prepared for a stronger reaction and would rather deal with that over the weekend.

Just got another email that they are setting up an information table this afternoon for anyone to stop by with questions about the vaccine. The infectious disease docs will be there too. They are encouraging the vaccine now because the program will be opening up beyond healthcare workers in the coming days.

I'm really glad to see education and information being given a push.

That was a good call about the weekend, sounds like a good plan if people are able to do that. I remember when I had my wisdom teeth out we specifically did that too even though I had to take the weekend off from work I was also in a college course at the community college during the week and I needed the college course to be the priority at that point so taking the weekend off gave me that chance to recover.

Per our state's plan DH and I will both be eligible in March. I'll be sure to post back when we get it. My DIL got her first does (she works in healthcare) and other than some soreness at the injection site and a blah feeling for about 24 hours she was fine.

Oh my gosh!!!!! I noticed this same exact thing with me this morning!! I was surprised because everything was normal and then bam! I feel fine, but was just surprised that this happened. Like you said, red, slightly itchy and warm! It was a week on Tuesday that I got my shot (Moderna)

I just got the moderna vaccine.

They have the entire conference center set up. There’s an intake room, check in room, vaccine rooms (one for Pfizer and one for moderna) and observation room. It was very busy but everyone knows what they are doing and it runs smoothly. Lots of med students working there.

It was painless to get. I didn’t feel it at all. I did feel some tingling ten minutes later but that was it.

I did have to wait 30 minutes since I have a sulfa allergy. I had zero reaction.

Definitely feels better to hear of a similar experience! Mine was Moderna too.
