About 17 years ago my DH and I (we were engaged at the time) won $10,000 on a local lottery for the YMCA. Most of it went towards wedding/honeymoon stuff. This year a women a know well won the Million Dollar Dream House lottery that the chidren's hospital puts on. Have any of you ever been lucky enough to win anything?

I use all my good luck at a cakewalk. Honestly, if there is a cakewalk at any elementary school event, everyone else should just give up because I am going home with cake. :lmao:

But, no, I've never won anything big. Although, it's good to know I'll never go hungry as long as I can find a cakewalk.

I have a coworker who enters sweepstakes all of the time. She even belongs to a sweepstakes group that meets once a month. She has won two cars, a boat, a motorcycle, free gas, gift cards, trips, and money.

No, nothing big.

The little things I can remember winning - - -

While I was planning my wedding many years ago I went to a bridal show and won twice - - a cake & knife set and a photo album.

A few years ago I won through Chase Picks Up The Tab --- you were entered every time you used your Chase debit card without using the PIN. I think every 500th transaction won. I won ~ $65 when Chase picked up the tab for one of my grocery bills. They are doing this promotion again - wonder if I'll win again? :)

Oh, and I just recently started doing Coke Rewards and use them to enter sweepstakes.

I did a fundraiser and won two baskets - in a row!! Actually, I was holding the tickets for someone who had left already, but everyone was giving me "looks" as if I fixed it because I was the one who put it on, and I won the best baskets - though they weren't really for me.... I think all in all, the baskets totaled about $1500+.

We won a $1,000 Foot Locker Gift card by playing the McDonald's Scratch off Monopoly game last summer!

When planning for our wedding, we went to a bridal show and won a trip to Jamaica!! I had never won even bingo before so I was very excited!! We used it for our honeymoon!!

I won $100 in Media Play gift certificates in a radio station contest. I was fourteen at the time and probably wasn't supposed to have even entered, haha.

So that's what I've been doing wrong. Note to self: join a sweepstakes group! :)

I haven't won anything big. But it doesn't stop me from trying! Hope springs eternal.

wow would love to win 10,000. my biggest wins were a trip to boston and a trip to the bahamas.

I went to a grand opening for a new clothing store in my town. Tickets were handed out at the door and every few minutes a number would be called and if you had the winning number you received a prize. All the prizes were store merchandise. I had a winning number and won a BIG prize. A size 20 dress!

My mom enters contests all the time for all of us; the largest thing I've ever won was a year's worth of Colgate toothpaste and toothbrushes...for a family of four. Since I'm single, that stuff lasted a loooooooong time. I don't think I bought a new toothbrush or toothpaste for at least 2 years.

A few years ago my sister and I won 10,000.00(we split it) from a local charity event. Haven't been that lucky again though.

I won a Blockbuster gift card for selling the most pictures as a photographer at the Giants games. I just tried to make sure that my subjects looked better in my photographs than they did in real life so I didn't really push them to buy the pictures. I just told them where to find their photographs on the Giants web site.

I avoid signing up to win anything. I am always suspicious that the fastest way to get ripped off is to try to get something for nothing. I was told by a professional telemarketer that things like the Publishers' Clearinghouse list are heavily sought out by telemarketing companies so maybe I was right to always be suspicious. Some sweepstakes have to be legitimate, but what percentage are a scam to form suckers lists? That is my concern.

DH won $200 on a lottery scratch-off last week.

Our school did a raffle for an all expense paid trip to Disney world...a great one...7 nights POR..airfare...park hopper...park and fly and baggage fees. $20.00 bucks a raffle, student who sold winning ticket got a weekend at the Great wolf lodge.

Now, I ran it and we picked the winner yesterday. It was a co-worker of mine who won which means we got the GWL!

It was one of the greatest experiences of my life...calling her and telling her she won!!

I know someone personally who wo the Publisher's Clearing house sweepstakes. It was my old pastor and his wife. Couldn't have happened to nicer people.

Funny thing is that my whole life, I have always filled out the stuff for my dad and he always said, "nobody ever wins, you are wasting your time." Then our pastor wins and I stopped filling them out because I figure, what are the odds now that I know someone who won? And my dad is the one saying we should fill them out. Haha

I won a pair of lift tickets once by being the right caller # on the radio.

I won a car from a sweepstakes at my local mall, but I was only 14 at the time so I couldn't accept it. :sad1:

If only I had read the rules & written my mom's name!! :headache:
