Have you ever witnessed this while eating out.

I usually order a drink at restaurants, but have been known to get water with lemon and add a packet of splenda to it, not for being cheap, but if I feel that I want something non-carbonated and not full of sugar.

I cannot stand the taste of most water and learned to add Slenda in order to make it more palatable for me. At work, I will ask for water and just add a splenda packet - no lemon..... and I know I am not the only one who does this.

Here is the difference for me. If you go and order water and get a lemon, (common here in Florida, cause you know we have nasty water) no big deal. If you order water and ask for several lemons so you can make lemon aid, then to me it is tacky. Also in regards to original poster and being at a sandwich shop, some of our places like this have self service drink stations with the lemons out, and to go and fill your cup with water and then take multiple lemons (oh, and have you seen how expensive they are) and use them to make lemon aid, then yep, you are cheap.

I truly never knew the lemons - especially multiple wedges - were there for customers to make lemonade :confused3. I always thought they were there so you could take one wedge, maybe two, to complement your tea!

Most restaurants sell bottled water for those who don't care for the taste of free water, even McDonalds does this.

I see nothing wrong with this. Lots of restaurants serve water with lemon and the sugar is on the table. So you can have your lemon water sweet or not sweet. No big deal.

Many restuarants I go to now do not have sugar on the table- when I ordered an unsettened ice tea they will ask if I want sweetener and then will bring it to the table- otherwise it is not right there on the tables.

Have any of you read the reports about lemons in restaurants? And what's on them? If not, try Googling "lemons in restaurants" and start reading the stories.

I saw that report--I now make sure to order my iced tea WITHOUT lemon!! YUK!!!!

I don't believe in using bottled water. It is terrible for the environment.

I like lemon in my water. If it is offered I accept it. I don't sweeten it, but could care less if someone else did. I guess because I don't hang with cheap people. We tip above the norm for good service, and if I wanted to add sweetner, no one would be losing out.

The things people worry about...
